Had to share this clip about that killer sax solo in “Talk Flood” off @scores_band “Vol 1”. The guys had to “make it sound bad” 🤣 Catch the whole story and both episodes with Scores through the link in our bio! #willplayshittysaxformoney #itstoogood #playitworse #longplay #listeningparty #music #musicians #podcast #newmusic #independentmusic #gear #geartalk #musicproduction #recording #podcasting #kcmo #lfk #la #supportlocalmusic #supportlocalartists #midwestmusicscene

We sat down with the hosts of The Long Play Listening Party for an epic 2-part podcast episode breaking down our debut record track-by-track. The discussion includes confusing alto and baritone saxophones, flat earth conspiracy theories, meeting for the first time at The Boobie Trap Bar in Topeka in 2003, and why sometimes a good song doesn't even need a chorus. Link in bio. Photos from a real nice day we spent on Amsterdam at the Van Gogh Museum.

We’re marking the end of our debut year with the release of the full visual album for “Vol. 1.” It’s the entire 36 minute and 50 second record accompanied by visuals and music videos. This multi-year project has been a labor of love for all of us, and we truly appreciate everyone who has found time this past year to listen to our work and share it with friends. We hope you’ve enjoyed the music and visuals as much as we enjoyed creating them. Link in bio. - CJ, Austin, Alex

Flashback: 6 years ago we backpacked through Europe. The sights, sounds, and hazy late nights sparked the inspiration for what would become Scores. Thanks to everyone who has listened and shared our debut record Vol. 1. You can download and purchase Vol. 1 over on our Bandcamp. It’s a Bandcamp Friday which means more of the proceeds go directly to the band today. Thanks for listening. Carry on. . . . . 📷 @jimvondruska

“Keep Yr Eyes Clsed” visualizer by Rhapsody Productions is available to haunt your nightmares. Link in bio. Go go go! —- The final track of our record “B.A.R.S” is the result of a happy studio accident when we played the bridge of “Keep Yr Eyes Clsed” at half-speed and decided it sounded cool enough to warrant its own place on the record.

Visualizer for "Keep Yr Eyes Clsed" from our debut record Vol. 1 available now, courtesy of Rhapsody Productions. (Link in bio). We had a blast writing what became the nastiest song on the record. Austin brought a bass line and a drum beat down to the practice room while we were living in Chicago. I couldn't figure out the time signature or what notes he was playing because the bass was tuned so low. We started humming a little vocal melody and doubled it with a pan flute synth patch because that was the first setting that popped up on our old keyboard. We sent a demo over to CJ with just a quick note that said "Good luck. We think we're singing 'keep your eyes closed if you don't want to know.'" CJ quickly sent back a vocal melody and lyrics that blew us away because he figured out the time signature and used the phrase "harlequin pattern." We took the song to Joel at his and Mitchell's studio in Lawrence. Austin knocked out the drums in 2 takes, and whatever he's doing in the last section of the song is probably the fastest, most dialed-in drumming I've ever seen in a studio. Joshua Landau happened to be there with his trombone so we got him to add some brass which further added to the absurdity of the song. The pan flute synth and original mumbled vocals from the demo all made it onto the finished song.

Here’s a flashback to a band photo before we became a band. We spent a few weeks traveling through Europe a couple years back. Got pretty loose in Amsterdam outside of the Van Gogh Museum and started talking about how fun it would be to make music together.

Austin & Alex are on this week's episode of The Pitch Streetwise Podcast discussing our debut record, which is available everywhere now. Conversation topics include band name Googlability, Kansas City's Ward Parkway, and how many band members will be needed if we ever attempt to perform live. The interview starts at the 18-minute mark, but the whole episode is solid Kansas City-related content. Link in, you guessed it, our bio. . . . . #podcast #kansascity #thefaint #newartist #indierock #music #musiclovers #newmusicfriday
