In January 1925, the children of Nome, Alaska faced a deadly diphtheria outbreak. Every child in Nome and its surrounding towns were in danger. Their local doctor couldn’t stop the progression of the disease, and with the next closest doctor being 10 days away, things did not look good.
We make no assumptions here… but depending on your age, you might know where this is going. This story has a happy ending thanks to some very good boys and girls. One of these good boys, Balto, has even been memorialized in museums and on film. But how much of the 1995 animated movie is true?
