After 12 weeks of intense and dedicated work, the first CCA came to an end at the beginning of February.
We couldn’t be happier with the results of this inspiring journey. Our participants presented ten highly diverse works spanning dance, circus, physical theatre, and performance.
What touched us most was the way they supported one another throughout the process. They performed for each other, offered dramaturgical feedback, composed music for each other’s pieces, and shared their skills generously. Over these weeks, they built more than performances — they created their own small community and a new artistic network that will continue to grow beyond this program.

In the 7th week of our program CREATION / CHOREOGRAPHY / AUTHORSHIP, our participants reached an important milestone: the project pitchings.
What started on November 4th as just an idea has been developed over seven weeks, accompanied by continuous input and reflection. Concept, aesthetics, authorship, context, and production — all of it evolved side by side.
During the pitches, the participants gave an introduction to themselves, their artistic practice, and their projects. They spoke about their inspiration, aesthetics of movement, and aspects of production: what they already have and what they still need. They also offered a first glimpse into their ongoing creative research, in which they will fully immerse themselves at the beginning of the new year. Each presentation was followed by an open Q&A with the audience, consisting of participants from other programs at SENECA INTENSIV and visitors of our OPEN HOUSE´25, of which the pitchings were a part, allowing the process to open to a wider public and inviting dialogue.
Before heading into the holiday break, the week concluded with time for collective reflection: What was learned? What was challenging? What worked — and what didn’t? And on top: each participant had a one-on-one conversation with the program direction, marking a thoughtful pause before moving forward.
All in all, a strong and meaningful conclusion to the first half of the program.

In week #6 of the CCA, we continued preparing for the upcoming project pitchings. Building on the guidelines from the previous week, participants arrived with initial answers and questions, which they shared with one another to collectively think things through. Sometimes, all it takes is explaining your idea to someone else to truly understand what it’s about.
This week’s guest artist was Nikki Ratjen / @nikkiratjen from the Barbaren Barbies / @barbarenbarbies collective. With her energetic and open presence, she immediately engaged the group and introduced her own way of bringing order into chaos — her tool of choice: post-its.
We wrapped up the week with our very own Felix Baumann / @felixjule_baumann , who, together with his booking agent Nikola Krizkova, offered an honest glimpse into the daily insanity of networking and distributing your own work.

During week 5 of our program CREATION / CHOREOGRAPHY / AUTHORSHIP, our participants dove even deeper into their own artistic perspectives and questions of how and why they create. Together with choreographer Lee Méir (@pontilee ), they shared doubts, methods, and ideas — bringing them all together to shape their individual artistic journeys.
At the same time, preparations for the project pitches before Christmas began. The participants received a set of guiding questions, offering a clear framework for developing and articulating their projects.
The week concluded with an inspiring seminar on dramaturgy in the moving arts by the wonderful Prof. Dr. Maren Witte, opening up new ways of thinking about structure, context and and the world we move in.

Week 3 of this years CCA edition was all about diving deeper into the body and into the work.
Over three intensive days, the participants worked with Raúl Vargas Torres / @teatro_remalparido , exploring the physical foundations of their project ideas. Working both individually and collectively, they searched within their bodies and pushed into what they truly want to express through movement.
We closed the week with a writing workshop led by Imogen Pickles / @imipickles , who guided the group in building and expanding their own writing practices: How do we write about ourselves, our art, and our projects? What kinds of texts emerge—scripts, promotional writing, applications?
A week of embodied research, reflection, and expressive clarity.

We’ve wrapped up the second week of the CCA #1, and our heads are buzzing with all the new input we now get to digest. Each participant has shared insights into their artistic practice, and over the past two days we also dove deep into the world of production and project management with the brilliant Katja Kettner / @kkwhatsgoinon .
It’s definitely not the easiest part of the job — but it’s the perfect foundation as everyone continues shaping their project concepts for the pitchings in December.

CCA #1 has officially started – and we couldn’t feel more grateful! We’ve just wrapped up an inspiring first week full of movement, introductions, and reflections. Each participant already presented a first idea for the project they’ll develop over the next three months – and it’s truly impressive to see how many unique paths are emerging.
Next week, we’ll dive into the INPUT PHASE: a time to receive insights from experienced guest artists and project managers, explore diverse working methods, and gather tools and strategies to bring ideas to life.
