For the better part of the year, I've been searching for an easier way to compose music for Super Mario World romhacks.
Around August, I found @_buttonmasher 's tutorials on Furnace Tracker and figured there must be a way to pipe Furnace modules into the SMW hacking ecosystem.
After about 2 months of work, I have a proof-of-concept for a new tool that accomplishes this - fur2amk. It takes a SNES Furnace module in and spits out an AddMusicK file with BRR samples.
This tune is by @melonadem.com and is one of the demo songs in Furnace Tracker - I've been using it as the first real test of the tool.
Now to try converting other modules and watch everything break again :)
It was a pleasure doing commentary for thabeast721's run of A Plumber For All Seasons at SGDQ! Shout out to my co-commentators bd and Dan Salvato, it was an honor sharing the couch with them.
If you're looking to get into mario romhacks, I recommend starting with APFAS. It's a great intro to the genre, and was made with so much love. Thanks to wye for making it.
You can download the hack and learn about smw romhacking at smwcentral.net
Link to the run is in my bio!
Thank you @caffeinesunrise for the beautiful portrait.
This scene is from this past summer's 503 jam session outside my home in North Andover. I'll never forget that jam!
I took a loop I made a while ago and fleshed it out into a song - link to the full tune is in my bio, if you want to hear the beginning and end, and also the middle
