After a 4 month respite from the yard, we came back dragging 2 engines out of the boot of the Astra and having a look at the amount of spares we got with this S13š
The SR conversion is now finished! Closing that chapter I wanted a couple of highlights to look back on š first proper drive of it last night was sick! No music for 2 hours just pure exhaust and bangs𤣠big huge massive thank you to @jowens_zenki (thatās the last thank you I promise!) and massive thank you to @schassissoph as alwaysš
Finally got to take the car to see @mutantengineering for the final details and to get the car running right again after I accidentally snapped a wire inside a relayš„² the JDM whisperer worked his magic and now it is absolutely spot on! Canāt wait to get out in it and make some memoriesš
2025.. Been such a fun year! Going in I didnāt expect to have another S13, never mind engine swapping itš said goodbye to some of the cars and to my gallbladder but said hello to a new adventure in making gearknobs and other bits, met some really cool people and had a blast! Thank you @schassissoph for being my partner in every excursion we went onš hereās to 2026!š
Thatās the chapter closed on this week! Test drove the car round the block and we felt confident it would manage the 55 mile journey home, and it did! š without a single problem as wellš with @jowens_zenki and @schassissoph in tow as my Schassis support team, the CA has been brought back home for a couple of months until we can get the orange one revivedš but for now absolutely massive thank you to Jowens, itās been a busy week and youāve done so much, so thank you! Now time to watch Corrie with Soph and bask in the fact I have an SR20 S13š„°
What a busy week itās been𤯠we are absolutely done in, but the car officially starts! After getting the intercooler into place all it took was @jowens_zenki to spray the air filter with a bit of brake cleaner and it sprung to lifeš
I am under no illusion with this, if it wasnāt for Jowens I wouldnāt be able to do this in a million years, so a million thank yous to you mate š weāve lived like a married couple this week and tbf weāve smashed it!
Big thank you to @schassissoph and @s14_girl for being so understanding this week too, I appreciate it!
@mutantengineering thank you for being on standby for any questions or hurdles weāve come across, the fact that you decided to do this kind of thing for a living takes absolute cajones so I absolutely salute youš«” (Iāll also be in touch when it gets home to bring it over to youš)
SR20 swap day 4!
We actually hit our target on our job list!š the new rear main seal housing came, got delivered to the wrong house so @schassissoph rode in like a hero and braved the A55 to hand deliver itš«¶ slapped that on, used the old gearbox to align the clutch (very clever idea, canāt remember which of us thought to do that!) with the gearbox on and everything else ready to go, we realised Iād forgot the shim plate, so instead of taking everything back off, we remembered itās not a seal, so we cut in half and slotted it inš
With all that done, we lifted the engine and within 30 minutes it was off the floor and mounted in the 13! I now have an SR20 S13! Now to get it running and then bug @mutantengineering to take it in for scrutineering when we can!š¤ cannot wait to see how this performs! I canāt thank everyone thatās been involved in this swap enough! š
@jowens_zenki I hope you enjoyed the view when we were removing the clutch alignment gearboxš
SR20 swap day 3!
Slower day today trying to dress everything ready for the engine to go in, bellhousing swapped on to the CA box, rust sanded back and treated in the engine bay, stock side mounted intercooler removed & Jowens sorted the interior ready for the gauges to be fitted! Hopefully all ready for the engine to be dropped in tomorrowš¤
