That’s a wrap! My first custom home as SCHAFFNER Architect (no partner just me) now completed and photographed (edit: 1st in Tradition) BIG BIG thanks to the wonderful owners who took a chance on me :)
Stay tuned for the final photos. It was so fun being there for two days shooting pics and enjoying my work. Makes me so happy.

I designed this house for a client who lost their home to the Palisades fire. By chance they found me through social media, they liked my Spanish style homes, traditional detailing and loved that I was “anti-AI” haha! It was a perfect match, can’t wait to see this one built as they deserve a beautiful home!

One of the best feelings is going back to a past project and having the client compliment how they love living there!!
This client loves their master bathroom, he uses the “plunge spa” all the time instead of heating the big one which takes a while. We took serious advantage of the side yard setback and views to the mountains while creating a private oasis.

This house I designed recently finished and sold to new owners!
Funny story on this one, I was actually hired by an architect that owned this lot. Spanish house design was not his forte and he could not pass the HOA design board so they recommended me. I designed a full new house for him, passed the HOA. Then he started the working drawing but sold lot before he could get a permit so the new owner hired me to do the working drawings and get the city permits. Now it’s done and I really wanted to go see it but I just found out it was sold and I don’t know the new owners, maybe one day I’ll meet them at the club.

From the depths of my archives I found this entry gate I designed but was ultimately not built. Maybe another client one day will love this as much as I do for a Spanish house.
It’s the subtle details that make a house special like a recessed plaster arch, a deepend splayed window and a laser cut Moroccan screen for shadow play.
