I officially graduated from Otis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Graphic Design so I thought I should start getting a little more professional.

Schaedyn and Her Shadow

Thank you to my darkroom advisor, Ward, who scanned the first one for me!
A few weeks ago, I visited with Schaedyn and her parrot, Sebastian.
Iโve wanted to photograph these two the moment I started my spring darkroom class at PCC. My goal was to capture an emotional connection - animal to human, human to animal.
Sebastian is 26 years old. He often mimics voices and random recollections from Schaedynโs childhood - appointing him the keeper of her memories. It was not easy photographing a parrot. Unlike humans, animals have no idea their picture is being taken, itโs more organic. He often felt threatened by my presence so I had to leave the room in between shots. The answer to his ruffled feathers was simple, all he needed was to be by Schaedynโs side.
Shooting 4x5 has strengthened my intentionality and patience for photography. I give a part of myself with every shoot I do.
ALTARS, a photographic series
Whilst backpacking through Europe this summer, I thought I should document some of the various sacred spaces I came across. As contrary to America, these places are drenched in a history that is hard to fathom.
Featuring altered instant and film photography from Corsica, Amsterdam, Ghent, Paris, Milan, Venice, and Berlin.

I made this back in November of last year, as a love letter to all the immensely creative folk I'm happy to call my collaborators and friends. Even since then, so much has evolved and changed in our community, and i think that having printed paraphernalia like zines captures these moments of symbiosis. No matter how on the fringes they might be.
