On Saturday, April 25, the GSSM Purple Stride team participated in the 2026 PanCAN Purple Stride in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Juniors Ali Netzel, Josie Mace, and Boone Hitch, along with alumni Jennifer Peelman ('90) and Helen Gosnell ('90), and faculty member Jennifer Crawford, traveled to Charleston to celebrate survivors, learn about PanCAN, and raise awareness of a disease with only a 13% survival rate. The GSSM team raised over $2,700 in support of this important cause, placing in the Top 10 overall teams in South Carolina! You can still donate to our team by visiting https://trst.in/eRLZHK

Update from the FIRST FTC World Championship: GSSM’s robotics team, 772 Golden Dragons, is officially locked in and ready for a massive day of competition! 🤖✨
After finishing yesterday 2-3-0 following some serious nail-biters, the team kept the momentum going late into the night. Huge thanks to a local Houston team for lending us their practice field—it gave our crew the perfect space to fine-tune the mechanics and dial in that code! 🛠️Even Apollo the Eagle is getting in on the team spirit! Stay cozy in the Houston AC!
Our very own Alyssa Prince from GSSM is currently showcasing a stunning new exhibit at the Black Creek Arts Council. 🎨
The collection features works created during her recent sabbatical—a deep dive into creativity that you won't want to miss.
This project was made possible through the generous support of:
The South Carolina Arts Commission (with support from the National Endowment for the Arts)
The John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina
📍 Where: Black Creek Arts Council, Hartsville, SC 🎟️ Don't miss out: Come support local faculty and experience these incredible pieces in person!

Largest Private Donation in GSSM History Announced by DeLoach Family | SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics
At the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, we celebrate the "whole student." Last week, our Govies traded their lab coats for costumes and delivered a stunning performance of Anastasia. We are incredibly proud of the creativity and dedication shown by the entire cast and crew! 🎭🎓
