Consumers often ask why gas cans have flame mitigation devices now.

-People are better protected from burns and explosions
-Accidents are reduced, especially during common uses like refueling equipment
In short, the rule was put in place to make fuel containers much safer to use and to help prevent dangerous, avoidable injuries.
