It was an unforgettable evening at
@dookychaserestaurant , where history, culture, and purpose came together in the most powerful way.
Our students had the rare opportunity to learn firsthand about the legacy of this iconic institution from the granddaughter of its founders, a reminder that our stories, our spaces, and our excellence endure.
We were also honored to be joined by Dr. Sacoby Wilson, Executive Director of
@ceejhaction , whose knowledge, wisdom, and passionate insights into environmental and climate justice deeply resonated with our students. They were fully engaged, asking questions, leaning in, and eager to learn more.
It was a masterclass in leadership and lived experience.
As if the evening could not have been more meaningful, we were welcomed by Mr. Alden McDonald, Jr., President & CEO of
@libertybankandtrust After learning who we were and why we are in New Orleans, supporting the next generation of environmental and climate justice leaders, he extended an extraordinary act of generosity by hosting our dinner.
This moment was about more than a meal.
It was a living example of what it looks like when Black institutions invest in community, in leadership, and in the future.
With more than 50 years in banking, Mr. McDonald stands as a pillar of legacy, stewardship, and economic empowerment. He is the longest tenured African-American financial executive in the country.
We are deeply humbled and inspired by his grace and generosity.
If we are serious about advancing equity, we must also be intentional about where we bank, invest, and grow our resources.
