🎬🎄Throwback: A Holiday Tech Tale! 🎄 🎬
As we jingle all the way into the festive season, let’s rewind and unwrap a special Scarab Digital throwback – our magical journey with "The Christmas Chronicles 2"!
🎅 Starring the iconic duo Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, this Netflix holiday hit with a journey back in time to 1990 was more than just a cinematic treat; it allowed us to flex our old-school playback muscles with 24 frame playback. 🤶
24 Frame #playback is when we synchronize our playback computers with film cameras so that the nasty rolling bars, usually visible on old-school CRT TVs or computer monitors, are no longer visible to camera.
And though not everyone can handle this old-school tech, we miss the art and specialized craft of syncing actual film camera bodies with the good old Barton Box from back in the day! We are all about getting everything in camera on set as authentically and practically as possible.
💡 Fun Fact: Did you know that in The Christmas Chronicles 2, when everyone was snowed in, the entire airport terminal was a set constructed in the old BC Pavilion from Expo 86.

There was not a dry eye in the house. We are deeply honoured to share a snapshot of a moving night that Michael J Fox wanted to organize for his friends, family, and film crew of "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie." The project resonates profoundly with so much heartfelt excitement from every crew member involved. It was evident to every person working on this documentary that it was not a job; it was a journey of passion and inspiration for all of us and an honour to contribute our craft.
Michael J. Fox, a beloved Vancouver figure, has always symbolized resilience and determination. His story is close to our hearts, and bringing it to life on screen was a privilege. It was an emotional experience for our crew at the screening, as many of us, including myself, were visibly moved – a testament to the impact of Michael’s story and the depth of connection we feel with him.
We want to express my deepest gratitude to Drew Locke for inviting us to be part of this significant project. It's rare in our line of work to engage with a story that transcends the boundaries of entertainment to become a source of real-world inspiration and hope.
