Scan 7 reissue of the 1999 classic ‘Resurfaced’ is out now. A true exemplar in the canon of Detroit techno, the LP is a further reminder of Scan 7’s confidence to patiently let the music unfold, never needing to overplay their hand. This is demonstrated from the first second as Random Soul opens with a slow downbeat and soft, almost imperceptible synths before quickly settling into a perfect groove whose power is present without the need for a hard edge. This strategy is utilised throughout the album in tracks like Black Wall and Unit Seven, while Invisible Invasion and Twisted Groov add in some intensity for deeper moments in the club. Remastered by Mike Grinser from the original DATs, the double vinyl features the original eight tracks from the album, while the digital version (and cassette tape) includes two bonus tracks: Custom Made and Mind Trap. 1. Random Soul 2. Invisible Invasion 3. Black Wall 4. Mind Trap 5. Custom Made 6. Sound Escape 7. Unit Seven 8. Digital Dreams 9. The Craft 10. Twisted Groov Produced, arranged and mixed by Scan 7. Courtesy of Twenty Foe 7 Production. Recorded and mixed at Hidden Territory Studios Str.8 from the 313 atmosphere. Mastered by Mike Grinser at Manmade Mastering. Direct Force Publishing 1999. 🎛️ Did you know about the Detroit-Berlin Axis? And why this track inspired my latest mix...? 🔊 The original of this track, was originally released on Tresor, an iconic Berlin based Techno record label and nightclub, that was pivotal in the connection that brought Detroit Techno to Europe. Often referred to as the “Detroit-Berlin Axis”, it was one of the most historically and culturally significant transatlantic alliances in electronic music history. The opening of clubs like Tresor in 1991, solidified this Detroit-Berlin connection, with Detroit artists becoming central to the emerging European Music scene. 📼 This record is the amazing Terrence Parker Remix of Scan 7’s ‘Resistance’ featuring vocals from Whyspurr. The original, plus this remix, appears of course with an honorary UR Remix, and there is a rumour of a new version with a Dam Swindle remix out on Scan Records soon… 🎙️ Not only is this remix an amazing uplifting piece of house music, there is also an important message in the music, when you truly listen to the lyrics. ⛪️ I could find no reference to the lyrics online, so I went old school and literally sat and listened and typed them out myself, to eventually find that they were partly a Bible Reference (Ephesians 6), and partly a probable reference to Detroit’s Underground Resistance crew / movement too. According to Discogs, Scan 7 is “a mysterious Detroit underground collective gathering seven artists” and “closely related to Underground Resistance”. @undergroundresistance313 💜 I got this copy from Submerge / SID when I was in Detroit last year (BIG UPS to that crew for making me so welcome), and this record was the initial inspiration track for my mix for @berlinciagay.de , which is out now on soundcloud, for this Mix I wanted to Honour this Detroit Berlin connection, featuring tracks from Tresor / Underground Resistance, you can read more about my many inspirations for the mix, and read the FULL lyrics in the accompanying interview too. 💪🏽 “If you can hear this, you are a part of the resistance…

Scan 7 - Dark Territory (2026 Repress Edition) (2LP vinyl, full printed sleeve, download code) Out 30.01.2026 on Tresor Records Patience is a virtue well-rewarded in techno; finding the right groove to build on then holding your nerve long enough to pay off the wait at the optimum moment is a much more skillful endeavour than it would seem for such a minimalistic style. And few display this talent better than Detroit originals Scan 7. Part of the hallowed Underground Resistance family, Scan 7 first broke out in the mid-90s with a series of jacking machine funk 12”s that showcased their savvy for self-control - a faculty they have demonstrated in releases year-on-year since. Highlighting this continuous font of vitality, Tresor Records has returned to the source and is proud to announce the reissue of Scan 7’s debut LP, Dark Territory. First unleashed on the label in 1996, the album has been remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser, augmenting already powerful tracks such as the snake-like, teasing Unusual Channel (mixed by the master Blake Baxter), and the harder-edged VII resulting in music that will, without doubt, provoke an enhanced response when the pressure is finally released. Repressed on vinyl with updated artwork, these tracks still sound like a blueprint for the future, testament to the prescience and assurance Scan 7’s leader, Trackmaster Lou, clearly had when writing “I hope you enjoy my records in the phuture to come” in the sleeve notes nearly 30 years ago. Track B1 off of my debut vinyl PRIMUS is a remix of my track MACHINE executed by none other than @scanseven Scan delivers a firm reimagining of the track that holds a strong groove and heavy hitting drums throughout. As a music producer myself I’m blessed to have such a foundational artist such as SCAN to grace the production. As stated by @rubadubgla “DJ I.V.’s debut vinyl EP, “Primus,” delivers a raw vision of modern Detroit techno, but it’s SCAN 7’s remix of “Machine” that grounds the release in lineage. Their rework is a commanding blend of militant rhythm and emotional depth, reinforcing techno’s roots while pushing it forward. With SCAN 7’s presence, “Primus” transforms from a debut into a dialogue with Detroit’s legacy” PRIMUS released via @scanrecords is available in record stores abroad and stateside as well as online via vanguardhq.net 🔊🔊🔊

SCAN 7/“I am from Detroit” (Dre Brown Rmx) Hallowed Ground VA| SCAN Records Detroit speaks, and it doesn’t whisper. Originally released in 2000 as a raw, militant anthem, “I Am From Detroit” by Scan 7(@scanseven ) was a sonic declaration of origin, pride, and resistance. Dre Brown breathes new life into the track with a remix that stays grounded in its roots while opening it up for a new generation of listeners, Unfortunately Dre Brown is no longer with us. This remix doesn’t dilute the message, it amplifies it. With tightened drums, deeper basslines, and a more hypnotic structure, the Dre Brown version makes that iconic vocal “I am from Detroit”feel more like a mantra than a sample. It doesn’t just hit your ears; it sinks into your spine. 🪩 This music is a clear message made not just for the club, but for remembrance, for reclamation, for resistance. Released as part of the powerful “Hallowed Ground V.A”, this track stands out as one of the most emotionally charged and politically grounded moments on the record.
