🎛️ Did you know about the Detroit-Berlin Axis? And why this track inspired my latest mix...?
🔊 The original of this track, was originally released on Tresor, an iconic Berlin based Techno record label and nightclub, that was pivotal in the connection that brought Detroit Techno to Europe. Often referred to as the “Detroit-Berlin Axis”, it was one of the most historically and culturally significant transatlantic alliances in electronic music history. The opening of clubs like Tresor in 1991, solidified this Detroit-Berlin connection, with Detroit artists becoming central to the emerging European Music scene.
📼 This record is the amazing Terrence Parker Remix of Scan 7’s ‘Resistance’ featuring vocals from Whyspurr. The original, plus this remix, appears of course with an honorary UR Remix, and there is a rumour of a new version with a Dam Swindle remix out on Scan Records soon…
🎙️ Not only is this remix an amazing uplifting piece of house music, there is also an important message in the music, when you truly listen to the lyrics.
⛪️ I could find no reference to the lyrics online, so I went old school and literally sat and listened and typed them out myself, to eventually find that they were partly a Bible Reference (Ephesians 6), and partly a probable reference to Detroit’s Underground Resistance crew / movement too. According to Discogs, Scan 7 is “a mysterious Detroit underground collective gathering seven artists” and “closely related to Underground Resistance”.
