Forsyth Park was absolutely buzzing at this year’s SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival 🎨✨ From sunrise sketches to colorful chalk masterpieces, the park came alive with creativity, connection, and so much joy. There’s nothing quite like watching art unfold in real time—every square telling a story, every artist bringing their vision to life. Huge congratulations to all of the incredible students, talented alumni, and inspiring high school artists who showed up and showed out. Sunshine, ink, and a STEAMROLLER?! ☀️🫟Yesterday’s annual Steamroller Printmaking Event at Alexander Hall was pure magic. The Fine Art Department turned the pavement into a giant press, and the results were incredible! Visitors spent the day choosing their favorite student-designed woodblock and watching it come to life—printed onto tees, totes, and paper right before their eyes. The energy, the creativity, the community… unmatched. This is easily one of the coolest events of the year, and yes—we’re already setting a reminder for next year. ⏰🔔 Huge thank you to all the amazing student volunteers and the stellar printmaking department + staff for making it happen. We were honored to welcome @jewel to the SCAD Savannah campus for an inspiring visit filled with connection, creativity, and meaningful dialogue. At Alexander Hall, she engaged thoughtfully with our community, including an intimate copper painting workshop with our fine arts painting students hosted by Professor @hollymathewsart The exchange of process, material exploration, and interdisciplinary thinking created an unforgettable hands-on experience. Her masterclass conversation at River House, graciously hosted by Executive Dean @honorbowmanhall was equally powerful — generous, insightful, and deeply inspiring — as she reflected on the evolution of her interdisciplinary practice and creative vision. The energy in the room was palpable. We are so grateful for her time, presence, and mentorship. A collaboration between Laundromat Art Space and SCAD School of Fine Arts, curated by resident curators Sophia Ballesteros and Ross Karlan, this exhibition gathers five rising artists circling the uncanny, the tender, and the quietly unsettling. Featuring BFA Painting students Parker Schovanec, Anna Shao, Ella Stouse, and MFA Painting students Iris Alejandrina and Alejandro Giraldo—each pushing mood, memory, and myth in different directions. From eerie narrative light and dream-soaked mythology, to portraits that crack open intimacy, to prints that probe family’s darker corners, to surreal paintings where childhood memories collide with 21st-century office life—this show hums with feeling. ✨ Panel Highlight | Curating & Creating: Conversations Across Art Practice ✨ This week, SCAD students had the incredible opportunity to engage with four inspiring voices shaping today’s contemporary art world, curators @suzy_brown_london and @cleo_the_project_space , alongside dynamic and inspiring fine artists @artistaaronyoung and @alexadkinson . The conversation was guided by our insightful moderator @honorbowmanhall , who led a dynamic discussion on the intersections of curation, creation, and collaboration. From exploring the evolving dialogue between artist and curator to unpacking the importance of space, context, and collaboration, our guests shared invaluable insights on building authentic, sustainable creative practices. 💬 Students left inspired to embrace experimentation and community as essential parts of their artistic growth, a reminder that art flourishes through connection. ✨ SCAD SAVANNAH FINE ART TAKES ATLANTA! ✨ Our talented Fine Art students just wrapped up an unforgettable excursion to the SCAD Atlanta campus and the vibrant Atlanta Art Fair, and WOW, what an inspiring journey! 🖼️🚎💥 From gallery hopping to meeting visionary artists, our students dove deep into the heart of ATL’s contemporary art scene. 🔍👩‍🎨🔥 One of the biggest highlights? A cross-campus dialogue that brought together Fine Art students from both Savannah and Atlanta for an incredible exchange of ideas, and creative energy. The room was buzzing with passion, insight, and the kind of collaboration that reminds us why we do what we do. 💬🤝🎨 We also got our hands dirty (in the best way) during a mini print class led by the amazing Professor Wagner, where students explored new techniques and made bold marks, literally! 🖨️🖌️ We explored innovative spaces, made meaningful connections, and left creatively charged up and ready to bring that ATL energy back to the studio! 💡💪 Big thanks to everyone who made this experience so impactful.
