Over the past two days, I had the distinct privilege of attending the Guyana–Canada Business Forum, the Maple Leaf Gala, and the diaspora engagement session led by His Excellency Irfaan Ali here in Canada. As a proud Guyanese woman who has lived in Canada for more than 30 years, and as someone deeply honoured to represent both Guyana and Canada in the name of peace as a Global Peace Ambassador, it was incredibly meaningful to spend the past two days immersed in conversations centered on the extraordinary transformation, economic acceleration, and global rise of Guyana. What stood out most was the caliber of leadership and intellect in the room, Ministers, MPs, CEOs, global executives, investors, innovators, technology leaders, and diaspora leaders all engaging in strategic dialogue about Guyana’s future and its growing influence on the world stage. One of the most impactful moments for me was witnessing President Ali deliver a flawless keynote address for approximately 45 minutes, articulating with remarkable clarity the country’s economic strategy, infrastructure growth, investment opportunities, and long-term vision. Yet what left the greatest impression was what happened after the keynote. For well over an hour afterward, he remained standing at the podium taking direct questions from the audience, without hesitation, without notes, and without deflection. The level of precision, depth, transparency, intellect, and command of detail demonstrated in every response was exceptional leadership in action. It was also such a privilege to meet Her Excellency Arya Ali, whose grace, presence, and commitment to the people of Guyana left a lasting impression on me. Equally meaningful was having the opportunity to meet the President’s parents for the second time, such humble, grounded, and genuine individuals. It was a beautiful reminder that strong leadership is often rooted in strong values at home. Guyana is no longer the world’s best-kept secret. It is the talk of the world. The fastest-growing economy in the world and a nation rapidly establishing itself as a global force in investment, innovation, infrastructure, energy, and opportunity.

This is more than a lineup. This is a room full of lived experiences, hard-earned wisdom, and voices that carry both truth and transformation. At RISE Canada 2026 (day 2), every speaker and panelist represents a journey, from uncertainty to clarity, from challenge to growth, from hope to impact. These are individuals who have not only navigated their paths but are now committed to lighting the way for others. The stage is set. The voices are ready. The question is....are you? The Burnhamthorpe community center will come alive this Saturday, April 25th, by 10:00am

Some journeys don’t break you… they build you!! Nominated. Honored. Still rising. Truly grateful🙏🏾 Being recognized as a Women of Inspiration® 2026 Nominee is powerful… but this moment is deeply personal. My journey has been shaped through adversity; moments that could have broken me, but instead built me. And through that journey, I made a decision: If I had to navigate it the hard way, I would make it easier for other women. That’s how SCABA was born. A women and youth empowerment and mentoring platform built from lived experience. From resilience. From the belief that no woman should have to figure it out alone. This work is done independently, outside of my corporate role, rooted in purpose and community, using my personal experiences my personal time and leadership journey to help other women rise, find their voice, and step into their power! Because this was never just about me. It’s about what we build… and who we lift along the way. And somewhere along the way, I stopped waiting… “If not me, then who? If not now, then when” This nomination is not the destination. It’s a reminder that the work matters. And I’m just getting When one woman reaches back to lift another… everything changes. Would you show up? The question I’ll leave you with is this: we all have 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week; how are you choosing to shape your legacy? And if I take away your money and your title… who are you?
