Yesterday, one of our moms called just to share about her day.
Not because something went wrong… but because something went right.
She told me she had a productive day:
• She reached out to her professors to make sure she’s on track in all of her classes
• She paid her utility bills
• She spent time applying for programs that will help her keep moving forward
And then she said something I won’t forget:
“I called because I just needed someone to be proud of me.”
And we are. So incredibly proud.
These are the moments that don’t always make headlines—but they matter. Showing up. Taking responsibility. Choosing progress.

One of the sweetest moments from last week happened during a visit at Third Street Coffee ☕
While mom sat down with our staff for a meaningful conversation about her goals and next steps, her adorable curly-haired little girl made herself right at home—drawing on the chalkboard behind her like she owned the place. 🖍️
There’s something really special about moments like this. Real conversations. Real progress. And little ones right there alongside their moms, watching it all unfold.
Because this work isn’t separate from their kids—it includes them. It impacts them. It matters for them.

This is what hard work and consistency can do.
One of our incredible moms just reached a huge milestone—she completed her IDA goal and purchased a car without taking on any debt.
After finishing our Step Into Freedom financial literacy workshop last summer, she committed to saving—and she followed through. Dollar by dollar, month by month, she saved $2,000. Through our IDA match program, that became $6,000 toward a reliable vehicle.
That’s not just a car—that’s access to work, stability for her family, and greater independence.
We’re so proud of her discipline, perseverance, and commitment to building a different future. This is what empowerment looks like. 🙌

Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in the everyday.
This week, one of our team members spent time in a mom’s home—sitting on the floor, holding her baby, talking through life, and simply being present.
At Step by Step, support doesn’t just happen during programs. It happens in living rooms, in check-ins, in the quiet moments where trust is built and relationships grow.
These visits are about more than just support—they’re about reminding moms they’re not alone. That someone sees them, cares for them, and is walking with them in every season.
And yes… baby snuggles are a pretty great bonus. 🥰

Remember that mom we shared about a month ago—the one who completed a Financial Prevention Plan with our staff after walking through our Crisis Care program?
Well today, she met with us again for her 1-month progress update… and wow. 🔥
This mom is on fire!!
She set three goals for her first 30 days—and she crushed every single one:
• Saved $25
• Tracked her expenses consistently
• Cut back on unnecessary spending (yes, even Amazon 🙌)
This is what real progress looks like. Not perfection—commitment. Discipline. Growth.

Some volunteers leave a mark that lasts for years—and today, we’re celebrating one of those people. 💛
Dr. Maggie Stull first walked through our doors in 2015 as a college student, serving as a Revive Kids volunteer. What started as a way to give back quickly became a long-term investment in the lives of the moms and kids at Step by Step.
Over the years, Maggie has mentored, built relationships, and continued to show up—even through the demands of medical school—serving whenever her schedule allowed. That kind of consistency and care changes lives.
Now, we get to celebrate her as Dr. Maggie Stull as she graduates and begins her medical career. 👏
Maggie, thank you for the years you’ve poured into this community. The impact you’ve made at Step by Step is lasting, and we are so proud of you.

We’re so grateful for our incredible intern, Riley, who has been helping us lead Restore—our parenting class for moms working to maintain or regain custody of their children.
Riley has jumped in with both feet and has been doing such an amazing job. From supporting moms during class to helping create a welcoming, encouraging environment, she’s already making a meaningful impact.
And as you can see… she’s pretty great with the babies too. 🥰
