Meet the Coaches 👋 • We’re Bevan and Sam, coaches at SBMJ Coaching. We’ve both been passionate about training from a young age and have spent years immersed in the gym environment, surrounded by top-quality coaches and constantly learning along the way. Our goal is to help people lose fat, build confidence, and feel strong through realistic, sustainable training. Outside of coaching, we’re highly active individuals who’ve dedicating years to building high levels of strength in the gym, maintaining a strong, aesthetic physique, and continually pushing our fitness to new levels. We have both competed in events such as HYROX, trail runs, and full marathons plus Sam is currently an @abpnutrition athlete. What drives you? As coaches, we would like to believe that we can offer more than just a plan. We both have had to find the drive to achieve and understand the purpose of the process, and it has definitely set us up to succeed in areas outside of the gym environment. Finding your drive is the key to falling in love with the process of achieving your goals. Recently, too many people do not want to work hard for what they want or build good habits, which creates weak foundations. Without a solid plan, a motivation and discipline, success will not be sustained. SBMJ Coaching will set you up with a driven mentality that will make you hungry for more, not only in the gym, but in every aspect of everyday life. Whatever your drive, let’s build on it and use it to achieve what you want and allow your goals to become limitless but you need to put in the work. Sunday service where I strung a few poses together for a change. Could be leaner, could be bigger, could be a lot of things but what I won’t be is lazy. modus operandi has changed regarding training this past week and it’s nice to smash some volume and not feel so systemically wrecked for it Do the work, in or out of the gym, get on with whatever you’re doing, and the fruits of your labour will follow. Last few weeks attempting to get big strong and lean - still waiting on the later. Foods a lot more consistent recently, 2 exams in the next 2 weeks has got me in a good routine with eating training cardio etc. Routine creates habits and habits create results, it’s pretty cliche but not wrong. Expenditure pretty high atm with food sitting between 2700 and 3000 without stomach doing summersaults for a change. Client Spotlight 🌟 Some shift from the girls on Monday 🫡 3 minute 16 second pb Proud of the effort the girls put into preparing for this HYROX and what they have achieved. We set a 10 week training block where SBMJ Coaching focused on specific HYROX sessions and a strength and endurance plan (next time, we will be in control of the running sessions as well 👊). We knew where we could improve after Birmingham, and we feel as though we definitely accomplished that, as you can see from the race performance image attached. Ruby needs to make sure her shoe is on correctly next time so that it doesn’t come off mid sled push 🫣, but very rarely will you run a perfect race. Client Spotlight 🌟 Here we have Mathew Mathew came to us with a solid base, good attitude towards training and determined to improve that extra 10%. Mathew has been a client who has asked questions and trusted every answer. Within his block he has enjoyed a holiday and a few Saturdays with the boys, but always worked hard to get straight back into rhythm. Caught up with Morgan and Lloyd yesterday, great to see the work ethic in person. They’re at different stages in their plans and have different current goals, so it was good to tweak a few exercises, helping them understand why each movement is included and exact muscles they’re targeting. Solid session with plenty taken from it.

It was a good day yesterday. The goal was sub 1:30. After a big ATHX prep block, longer runs took a back seat, so I wasn’t sure how the legs would hold up with my recent running volume but they did just hold on 🤣 (despite losing 2/3 gels 🤦‍♂️). Chip: 1:28:21 Strava/Garmin: 1:27:46 😉

ATHX MADRID 🇪🇸 wrapped 📦 Pretty cool experience getting to do competition in a different country with your best mukka - albeit didn’t get out of it what we both wanted. Speaking for myself and I know bev will agree 😂 107/8kg running round a km circuit against some elite level athletes is not the smartest of game plans Has its caveats tho currently tied best strict press in the world between us, be interesting to see how long that lasts. Few rookie errors with weight loading etc and metcon standards but there’s is no excuse - just do better, get fitter, get stronger. Whole lot of lessons to take forward into the next - Copenhagen 🇩🇰 No more chasing two rabbits, give something your best effort or don’t do it half arsed. Some recent tin slinging Post holiday calories been seriously put to use. Feeling pretty disgustingly strong recently but it all comes with its caveats - being soft.
