Beauty Wears Many Masks prt 1 (Voyeur)
I started writing this poem in 2016. The finished poem became this poetry film. Directed by me, Co produced and shot by @ibukafilms@rayibuka 2018.
I read a Cambridge article that said the most unattractive woman in the world was African. We had the most unattractive features...
So I wrote Beauty Wears Many Masks in response to Hollowoods major impact on black women's self esteem and our misunderstanding of our natural aesthetics. As I was in that writing process, I also learned about the Nigerian Sex Workers in Italy... A disturbing exploitation and commodification of the Black female body that actually had been going on since the early 1980s. Women from Benin and other parts of West Africa who are indebted to their trafficers after getting into Europe and are forced into Sex Work to pay off their unplayable fees.
The film features my niece Olivia May who is now 10! I wanted her to be a part of this and to have a starring role. She represented th innocence we all start with before the ideas of the world corrupt and change our minds. Coming up, Prt 2 was shot based on the disturbing Guardian Newspaper article images.

Sometimes you just want to scream!!!!
Imagine trying to escape poverty and ending up having to have sex with strangers everyday because you owe people who took you from one version of hell, straight into another!
I have read some harrowing accounts from people who have to have sex with strangers in the most dangerous of situations.
In parts of the world that are supposed to be "developed"...
Beauty Wears Many Masks Prt 2 was shot at Wandsworth Common. The scene is based on an image that was in the Guardian of a young woman sat on a filthy old mattress with condom packets and old plastic bags strewn all around.
Women are heavily commodified.
In prt 3 we reclaim our power.

I did lmfao at Kevin Hart's GOAT roast special on Netflix… but there's so much that was problematic for me I had to address my cognitive dissonance… straight up! Some of the gags were so basic… really just a really high production Netflix opportunity for White Americans to fully express their deep seeded anti black and anti women POVs. And with 0 consequences. They were fully covered by the badge of comedy. And here's what's the most awful part… In our current climate of extremist right wing takeover and the increase of pure unadulterated racism - we would have benefited far more from the clever comedic teachings from a Dave Chapelle or Paul Mooney Rest his Soul. Jokes for jokes sake that permit white people to make light of Enslavement and skin complexion… hmmmn… in a world that still savagely attacks Black people literally and metaphorically. It's just not needed. Let's be more confident in our actual thinking part of our brains. Yes sarcasm reigns especially for American style comedy but but but but BUT…. We have seeeeen what genius can derive from a writing team who actually have a POINT to make that speaks to the world we all want to live in TODAY. One where people go “wow oh my gosh! U seriously telling me WOMEN used to get cussed out for aging? And for being with multiple men by CHOICE!!!” OR; “WTF they used to talk about skin colour and judge people who are extremely dark - everyone knows that's THE BEST SHADE any human can ask for“
