The Pacific Crest Trail covers 2,650 miles between Mexico and Canada. Along the way, it passes through California, Oregon and Washington. It takes travelers across the desert, through the glaciated expanses of the Sierra Nevada, into deep forests, and leads to spectacular views of volcanic peaks in the Cascade Range.
Each year, many hikers and equestrians enjoy the trail in different ways. Some travel for a few miles, while others complete the entire trail in a season.

Southern California Edison is hosting two virtual discussions on May 19 and May 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to help residents stay informed and prepared for Public Safety Power Shutoffs.💡
Residents of San Bernardino County may experience longer and more extensive Public Safety Power Shutoffs due to low humidity, dry vegetation, high winds and the risk of extreme weather facing Southern California. SCE may proactively and temporarily shut off power to keep communities safe and reduce the risk of a fire caused by utility equipment. Areas that historically have not been affected by Public Safety Power Shutoffs may also experience outages.

Did you know Mount San Gorgonio is the highest peak in Southern California at 11,503 feet? Known as “Old Grayback,” this towering summit holds the record for the longest recorded line of sight in the contiguous United States. Its summit is clearly visible from Mount Whitney, which is 190 miles away. ⛰️
Mount San Gorgonio was named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century in honor of Saint Gorgonius. The first documented ascent of Mount San Gorgonio occurred in 1872 by Watson A. Goodyear of the Geological Survey of California and Mark Thomas of San Bernardino. By the 1980s, the area had become a popular resort destination, which led to the creation of new trails and wagon roads.
To help preserve the area’s rugged beauty, the San Gorgonio Recreation Area was protected in 1929 with strict limits on road development and expanded protections soon followed. Today, millions of visitors continue to explore its wilderness trails and experience one of California’s most legendary mountain landscapes.
