Still sitting with this moment. Still overwhelmed.
I am so grateful to God for being true to His word. Time and time again He shows me that His word is the final say, not doubt, not fear, not circumstances. Just Him.
When this project started back in 2023, it already felt surreal. I was stepping into rooms I never imagined, working alongside an incredible international artist like Tavares Strachan. I mean… Tavares Strachan. A global visual artist. And there I was.
I remember opening night, after we performed, we were invited to this beautiful after dinner party. I sat at a table with names I grew up hearing about. William Kentridge, Maps Maponyane. Other artists whose names were so big I forgot them in the moment because I was just… present. Grateful. Overwhelmed.
And yes, that’s when I learned I don’t like truffle 😂 I tried it, politely, and realised it’s not for me. But that small, funny moment is stamped in my memory because of what it represented. I was at THAT table. And I felt God so clearly, the same way I’m feeling Him now. His promise is true.
Then came the request from Diana Nawi, that Tavares wanted me to be part of his book. Featured in his catalog. My voice, my thoughts, in print. Forever. It felt unreal. We did the interview. She guided me with questions, and I spoke about the work.
And now… I’m holding the book in my hands.
To see it, to feel the weight of it, is a reminder of how history is made. We still read the Bible in book form today. We still learn about David. About Abraham. And I’m looking at this book thinking: future generations will read about this young girl named Sibahle Mtimkulu. They’ll reference her words in their studies, in their PhDs.
As we speak my words are out there.
This is gratitude. This is one of the biggest highlights of my year. I didn’t see it coming like this, but God did. This is a beautiful reminder that God is not a man that He should lie.
His word is true. Amen to that.
