#REPOST @quickthornbooks - The best craft books don't just explain the 'how' and the 'why' - they make you want to pick something up and try it out! 🧪 'Darning Socks' by Hikaru Noguchi is the book that started many a mending journey: step-by-step, beautifully photographed, and full of innovative repair techniques that make a darned sock genuinely something to be proud of. Its companion volume 'Beyond Darning' takes those skills further - with fabulous imaginative mending techniques for all kinds of creative textile repairs.🧦 'Collect Print Collage' by Sue Brown opens up an entirely different world of making. Clearly and beautifully explaining printing with nature. Collecting what you find, and how to build something unexpected and original from the materials around you.🍂 📚All three are books you'll return to. They sit on the shelf not as decoration (though beautiful to behold) - but as a crafter's companions. The kind you reach for when you want to make something, learn something, or simply feel the satisfaction of a skill properly learned. Step-by-step. Page by page. Easy to read. Beautifully photographed. 📖 quickthornbooks.com Buy from us directly. Sign up to our newsletter for up-to-date news, workshops and book discounts. Three plate colour separation is the collagraph process being studied this term at the yard:ARTspace, Cheltenham. Everyone is experimenting, and so far, the results are spectacular. Thank you everyone for trusting the process.

Experimenting with ink and bubbles. A great effect, so into the sketchbook with a paper lithography print. The best bit was choosing bubble related music for this post.

This week's Monday Musing. This week, the thorny issue of liking work after it's been hidden away for a bit. What would you call that phenomenon? Delayed gratification doesn't fit for me, but might do it?

What a fabulous book, Sue! I'm itching to deep dive into your gorgeous images and processes. I love the way it's been clearly set out - easy reading but not simplistic. It's been a 2 month wait and took ordering twice, for some bizarre and unexplained reason, but my birthday present has finally arrived. It's been well worth the wait, but was nothing to do with either @quickthornbooks or @sb.brown21 , I might add. #collectprintcollage #bookrecommendations📚❣️ #treatingmyself #inspiringart

Today's Monday Musing is about taking a rest, it's Bank Holiday Monday... and as a self-employed person, it's too easy to keep working. So l am taking the day off, l hope you are too.

The development of one of my allotment paintings. Not sure that l have finished yet. Do you find some works come together quickly while others need layer upon layer? I am addicted to the process of layering and scraping back whether l need to or not!!
