@bigearsfestival lived up to the hype and exceeded the high expectations I had! Knoxville is a lovely city, the people are kind and genuinely conversational, the festival staff is amazing, and of course the curation is top-notch. I’ve had to cancel trips to the festival twice (once sick, once for a gig), but couldn’t think of a better first go than seeing @colliersworld receive such a warm welcome doing a @downbeat_mag Blindfold Test with @frankalkyer , perform a mind-blowing Collier Plays Coltrane set at @bijoutheatre that received a standing ovation and participate in a “not a panel” moderated by @ms.ayana.contreras with @laraaji_official and @lovesaraswathiveena . Collier Plays Coltrane is touring internationally throughout 2026. LA, mark your calendars for May 8th at @smjazzfest ! Coming in hot back to LA just in time for @coryhenry ’s @thechurchexperience_ tomorrow!

Happy International Women’s Day! It’s been a journey embracing navigating life as a woman. Growing up in the 90s/00s in suburban Denver, there was such a polarity in girl sports vs boy sports and girl instruments vs boy instruments. There were immediate stigmas in choosing to play saxophone and hockey. I used to drag and clap back at any sound guy who would look at me funny. I’ve been in more professional situations that I can count on both hands where I’ve had to address the elephant in the room, call out bad behavior, and practically beg for action to be taken. It can create a hardened exterior. Then there’s drowning out the noise of “she only got the gig cause she’s hot” or wondering is this gig/event performative and they’re only hiring women to check a box? And dealing with a couple of scary injuries wondering if I can even handle being a 5’4” 123lb woman who can play an instrument that’s over half as tall as me. Over the past couple of years especially, I’ve chosen to lean more into my divine feminine power. If a situation does not align, I walk away and let actions speak louder than words. I will choose peace over chaos any day. I train and take care of my body so well that I’m in the best shape of my life. I prioritize my habits & growth and let go of any distractions. I place equal emphasis on physical, professional, interpersonal, and spiritual health. I practice gratitude EVERY DAY. I am eternally grateful for the grace, guidance, inspiration, and grounding of all of the women in my life. I celebrate us today and every day!
