Enjoying wine isn’t limited to taking a sip, experiencing a vineyard doesn’t require long-distance travel and transcendent experiences can happen within a tiny window. Wine might be ephemeral, but art isn’t. We capture moments that savour taste.

@dalkeithwines is dedicated to the South African soil. Inspired by the endeavour of friends and the essence of three distinct vineyards, Kalmoesfontein and Jakkalsfontein in the Swartland and Koplandsteen in Stellenbosch, Dalkeith coaxes the purest expression of place, resulting in wines with a crystalline purity that vibrate with quiet energy. These are honest wines without pretence, yet unmistakably world-class South African fine wine, as thoughtful as they are thought provoking.

Harvest doesn’t get more extreme than at the southernmost tip of Africa. Three months before we arrived, wildfires had torn through Cape Agulhas and we genuinely didn’t know if there’d be any vineyards left to shoot. But a boer — and, turns out, a Californian — maak ‘n plan. This is Trevor, the sole person behind Lost Boy Wines, in his element, making another cracker vintage of rosé.

We’re going to VieVinum! We are on our way to Vienna to soak up the Hofburg and the Grüner Veltliner (soooo much Grüner Veltliner). Austrian producers — our DMs are open 😉

Look at that lighting, people! There’s a reason we call him Mike Micro-adjustment Minnie.

The Wachau doesn’t easily give up its character. You have to earn it... and then return it.
At @weingutjoseffischer that means farming organically and biodynamically, building humus through their own compost, and working horn manure and horn silica into the soil. No shortcuts.

Don’t tell Belinda Carlisle, but heaven IS a place on earth. It’s called Hemel-en-Aarde. Hamilton Russell sits among the most southerly vineyards in Africa, in a valley that looks exactly as dramatic as it sounds. The wines, as it turns out, are no different.

@weingutjoseffischer ’s philosophy is simple. Do as much as necessary, but as little as possible. Minimal intervention is about micro obsessions.

Words from @anthony_hamilton_russell We’re still a little speechless.
“The pleasure of working with Savour Studio has been the feel and knowledge their team has for wine, from the vineyards to the bottle, and their eye for beauty from the land to the cellar.”

“Rosé is very much an uncharted genre of wine,” says Trevor DeRuisé, American ex-pro cyclist turned Cape Agulhas winemaker, which is either the most unlikely origin story in South African wine or (considering recent Argus fever) the most inevitable one.
His Lost Boy Las Flores (formerly known as Latigo) – 100% Mourvèdre, barrel fermented, grown in one of the Cape’s most extreme corners – took Rosé Wine Discovery of the Year in the 2025 @timatkinmw SA Report.
Not bad for uncharted territory.
