The world is at war & EVERY single day is a sh*t show however we must continue in the tradition of radical perseverance— finding joy, speaking up at whatever cost and being the versions of ourselves we are divinely being called to be— I believe that God holds space for duality and the multitudes of who we are.
This last year rocked me in new ways I didn’t think were possible— spiritually, mentally & physically. But, it also pushed me to confront myself and ask necessary questions. I look forward to this year being a year of answers🤍

There’s nothing like the feeling of seeing a concept be brought to life and executed beautifully! This year, our team was super passionate about our Beauty & Grooming Awards having a life off the webpage and speaking to the core of our audience. This franchise got a full refresh with an updated look, we introduced new categories, paid homage to industry innovators and hosted an exciting IRL activation that kept our intention at the forefront— #EBONYAtTheSalon.
@vqvaughns — you’re the one. Your advocacy and fierce passion for maintaining this franchise is deeply felt; it’s a joy to support you on this project (and in everything else, hello) every year.

My uncle would sing this song with custom choreography every time I entered a room as a kid; he did all he could to never let me forget how special I am and was to him. I’m so grateful and thankful for his many years of love, endless support and being the best uncle and champion I could have ever imagined.

This list celebrates phenomenal women shaping culture across journalism, PR, digital media, and storytelling— it’s an honor and a privilege to be seen alongside them. I still believe in the power of words in pursuit of preserving common good. I hope to continue this work as best I can for as long as I can.
I’d like to acknowledge this honor today in dedication of my Uncle Tommy whose love of Black media, the written word and Black culture influenced my path entirely. I wholeheartedly wouldn’t be here without him; I pray to always be a reflection of his love and passions.
