And that's the end of our brilliant 2026 residential! A quick recap: two teams of 10 were taken to do various activities, including high ropes, bushcrafting skills, the giant '3G swing' (a 40-foot-high drop!), stargazing, and caving. The children were pushed to their limits, utilising their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. They have made memories that'll last a lifetime, and developed skills that will be vital when making the jump to secondary school in a few months' time.
Caving might've been the most popular favourite activity during the residential! We got to crawl through tight spaces - including the 'letterbox' and 'the squeeze' - and really put our leadership and teamwork skills to the test. All the children showed so much courage and resilience as they persevered, even when they felt like giving up!
Over the past four Tuesday afternoons, Year 6 have taken part in the Abacus Financial Literacy workshops, developing important life skills around money and finance. Through a range of practical, interactive activities, the children have explored topics such as budgeting, saving, understanding bank accounts, and making informed financial decisions. The sessions encouraged thoughtful discussion and problem-solving, helping them to build confidence in managing money responsibly as they prepare for the next stage of their education. Today's session even involved taste-testing some crisps and assessing the branding of each packet! 😋
Year 6 celebrated the New Year with a brilliant ice-skating trip to the Canary Wharf rink. There was lots of laughter, wobbling, and cheering as the children found their feet on the ice. Confidence grew with every glide, and smiles were everywhere. The trip was full of energy, teamwork, and great fun from start to finish. A joyful and memorable way for Year 6 to begin 2026!
We were delighted to welcome the Evening Standard to our classrooms to showcase our Think Equal lessons, where our youngest learners are growing in empathy, respect and emotional awareness as part of a city-wide approach to build healthy relationships and challenge harmful stereotypes early. 🌱🧠💛
We are so proud of our children learning kindness, respect and emotional awareness from the very start — building the foundations for confident, compassionate futures. Teaching our youngest to understand themselves and one another makes our community stronger every day.

Year 4 had a wonderful morning rehearsing for our carol singing at St Martin-in-the-Fields, joined by the brilliant pupils from St Paul with St Luke’s — a great start to the festive season! 🎄
This week, we celebrated our school's 160th birthday by decorating cakes, spending time in our living museum, and playing with Victorian toys. Our English lessons revolved around Victorian authors (such as Charles Dickens and Beatrix Potter), and our History lessons focused on a significant person in our area's history (such as Julia Scurr and the Poplar Rates Rebellion of 1921). It was immersive, captivating, and delicious!
St Saviour's continues to be an 'outstanding' school. Our Ofsted report from 2025 highlighted a range of areas in which we excel. Come and have a look around.
