Our Executive Director Chris Mancini moderated a discussion presented by the Charles River Conservancy, where leading voices in the field explored how floating wetlands can help improve urban waterways by absorbing excess nutrients, supporting biodiversity, and strengthening climate resilience in our cities. The conversation brought together perspectives from Nick Wesley / @urbanrivers / Chicago, Charmaine Dahlenburg / @nationalaquarium / Baltimore, Galen Fulford / @biomatrixwatersolutions / Scotland, and Laura Jasinski / @charlesriverconservancy / Boston for an inspiring conversation on the future of nature based solutions in Boston and beyond. We're excited to launch our own floating wetland on Fort Point Channel in partnership with Biomatrix Water, National Aquarium, Alexandria Real Estate, and Charles River Conservancy. Stay tuned for more! #SaveTheHarbor #BostonHarbor

Thank you for making waves with us 🌊 Forty years ago, Boston Harbor was one of the dirtiest urban waterways in the country. Last night, we came together on a now thriving harbor at Destination Boston Harbor 40 to celebrate just how far we’ve come. We honored our Historic Heroes, whose vision made this transformation possible, and celebrated this year’s Harbor Heroes who continue to go above and beyond to protect and strengthen our beloved beaches. The room was filled with our friends, partners, and leaders — including @massltgov ! The night was full of energy, connection, and celebration. From the dance floor to the silent auction, every moment supported the future of Boston Harbor. A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors who made the night possible, and a special shout out to @90pluscellars and @vitaminwater for keeping the drinks flowing all night, and to @thegrandboston for hosting us in such a stunning space. Your support truly helped bring this celebration to life. When you attend our events, step onto a cruise, or see young people becoming harbor stewards, know that you’re part of this story too. Here’s to cleaner waters, stronger communities, and an even brighter future. See you on the harbor 💙 Photos by @katyrogersart #SaveTheHarbor #BostonHarbor

To commemorate 40 years of making waves on Boston Harbor, we want to recognize the ones who started it all. Forty years ago, Boston Harbor was a great example of environmental neglect. As Quincy City Solicitor, Bill Golden initiated the Boston Harbor Cleanup through his landmark lawsuit that demanded action on the sewage pollution in the harbor. The case was heard by Judge Paul Garrity, and together they compelled the state to create the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. Leaders were held accountable to confront the Harbor’s pollution by Managing Editor at The Boston Globe, Ian Menzies, who kept the public informed and encouraged public dialogue. Meanwhile, Beth Nicholson represented community voice and brought her belief as a mother that her children, and all children, deserved clean water, safe beaches, and a harbor the region could be proud of. For 30 years, President and CEO Patty Foley led the organization through a period of extraordinary growth and impact, expanding membership tenfold, strengthening advocacy across all levels of government, and transforming Save the Harbor into a trusted regional voice for clean water, public beaches, and equitable access to Boston Harbor. Alongside her, Bruce Berman shaped the organization’s public identity and strategy as Director of Strategy & Communications and as Boston’s beloved “BayWatcher.” Together, Patty and Bruce advanced a defining belief that continues to guide the organization today: that the best way to save the harbor is to share it, building a new generation of stewards connected to clean water, resilient coastlines, and a harbor that belongs to everyone. We are excited to honor the monumental efforts of our founders and former leaders as our 2026 Historic Heroes at Destination Boston Harbor 40. We look forward to gathering our friends, supporters, and influential civic, corporate, and community leaders to commemorate the impact of collective efforts and a dream for a better harbor. #savetheharbor #bostonharbor

We hosted our April Vacation programming at @atlanticwharf this week and had an incredible time, rain or shine. A total of 167 youth joined us across both days for hands-on fun, from fishing lessons and touch tanks to dragon boating with @onedragonboat and lawn games. So much energy, curiosity, and joy all in one place. We can't wait to do it again soon in the summer! Huge thank you to Atlantic Wharf for hosting us in such an incredible space. #savetheharbor #bostonharbor
