Let’s talk about event costs properly.
Yes, ₦6 million can plan a 200-guest event. Absolutely.
But what that budget can deliver depends on what you truly care about.
If luxury décor is a priority, that budget can disappear on décor alone.
If your focus is guest experience, logistics, sound, food, and smooth coordination, then the same ₦6 million can work, just without exotic finishes.
This is why some “budget breakdown” posts are misleading.
Not because everything in them is wrong, but because context is missing.
A DJ budget might be accurate.
But décor, production, staffing, rentals, logistics, and contingency costs don’t always align the way these videos suggest.
And then we keep seeing:
“What I ordered vs what I got.”
So the real question is:
Are Vendors not speaking up enough?
Or are people choosing not to listen?
Content like this, without proper explanation, creates unrealistic expectations and puts unnecessary pressure on both clients and vendors.
We need to be more honest, more creative, and more realistic with what we put out there.
I was going to say Budgets don’t lie: but misinformation does.
This particular budget breakdown, all lies!!!

I had a conversation with one of my mentees recently, he spoke to me about starting something new. I encouraged him, affirmed his ideas… and then I watched him start and stop almost immediately.
And I told him the truth:
“Boy, you’re not lazy. You’re scared. What are you afraid of?”
Scared of failing? Scared it won’t be perfect?
Scared of what people will say if you try and it doesn’t work out? Scared of what failing will do to you? (Story for another day)
But isn’t that one of the greatest ingredients of success, the willingness to try despite the fear? And what if you don’t get it all right? Would you not have learnt 1,2 or 3 ways to do things better?
This clip from one of our incredible speakers, Victory of @celebrazioni_catering , at The Wedding Conversation Café, was a major pointer for me:
“YOU DO NOT HAVE AN EXCUSE.”
Not talent. Not resources. Not time.
You’ll either find a way, or find an excuse; and the choice is yours.
So even though it’s Thursday, let this serve as your Monday-style motivation:
- Start the business.
- Post the idea.
- Rework the plan.
- Launch again.
Even if you’ve paused before, try again. And this time, silence the fear with action!
This is your reminder:
You don’t need perfect. You need bold.
And bold is already in you.

Yesterday we talked about where the event industry meets the law.
Because nobody hands you a business manual when you start your event company.
We’re building that community, where event professionals get the training the industry never gave them.

I haven’t been showing up here as much as I’d like, I even dressed up to film a few times, but none of them made it through 😁
Ooops! It’s been a whole lot of work behind the scenes & I would not have it any other way. 🙏🏾
Still on, this page is dedicated to the real conversations in the wedding and events industry.
I hear there’s a narrative going around that vendors are overcharging and that some vendors are doing too much. Planners inclusive!
My response? Know your job well. Give it your best shot. Price your craft in a justifiable way. and just keep doing your work. Every learning & every good work IS a narrative!
If you’re a vendor navigating the shifts in this industry, trying to figure out your pricing, or just looking for a space that gets it, you’re in the right place.
And if you’re ready to go deeper, I have a FREE class on May 11. Send me a DM and I’ll send you the registration link. 🤍
April was quiet on here.
There’s a concept in Deep Work #Thebook about how people used to have sanctuary spaces. Physical places they’d retreat to when they needed to do their best thinking, away from the “Higi Haga” of everything else. That idea stuck with me. April was my version of that.
I can’t say I’m “back” exactly. May is shaping up to be a serious month of work, the kind that demands full attention. But I’ll be more present here when I can.
Happy new month. If you’re in a heavy season right now, keep going. The work matters, even when no one’s watching.

I am Adesuwa Olanrewaju-Dada and I have spent 15 years inside Nigeria’s events industry asking one question: why are so many talented professionals still not thriving?
The answer is not ability. The answer is structure.
Real change begins when we stop treating this industry like a hobby. When professionals have their frameworks intact. When we work with clients the way a doctor works with a patient, so they understand the gravity of our work and respect the profession.
When people take flight and earn consistently from what they have chosen as a business. When vendor to vendor, we respect each other’s work, collaborate genuinely, and honour boundaries.
That is the industry I am building. That is why I started Save The Event Industry.
We are not just talented. We are professionals. And it’s time the industry reflects that!

Dear Business Owners, can we have an honest conversation about how we handle client feedback?
I’ve been noticing a troubling trend: instead of listening, some of us have become defensive. And I get it, some clients can be overbearing. But getting combative is never the answer.
Here’s what I’ve learned: there is always something to take away from a client’s feedback. Even when they’re wrong. Even when it stings. A former client once helped me see this clearly, they stayed patient with me even when I made mistakes, and that changed how I approach criticism forever.
My formula is simple:
✅ Put yourself in their shoes
✅ Listen first, respond second
✅ Take what’s useful, set aside what isn’t, for now
Most clients aren’t trying to be difficult. They just want to have a voice in the service they’re paying for. And honestly? That’s fair.
Listening won’t cost you your authority. It will earn you their loyalty.
And what if they are very overbearing? I will tell you want to do tomorrow!

Do not compare your starting point to someone else’s progress.
It is easy to look at people who are ahead and feel like you are behind. You see the results, the visibility, the wins, the recognition, and you begin to question your own journey.
But you did not see their beginning.
You did not see their mistakes. You did not see their learning seasons. You did not see the years of quiet work.
Everyone is moving at a different pace, in different seasons, with different resources, different responsibilities, and different starting points.
Comparison removes context. And when context is removed, discouragement grows.
Focus on your own growth. Focus on your own consistency. Focus on your own next step.
Progress is personal.
