In the process of creating his wall reliefs, Wiener found their backs increasingly compelling. While constructing their more deliberate, outward-facing visage, he noticed a corresponding, more unruly countenance emerging on the reverse, asserting itself as integral to the totality of the piece and entering into a dialogue with its front-facing counterpart. This development brought the reliefs off the wall and into the room, finding their new form: freestanding sculptural works with a front and a back. Revealing both sides of the pieces opened up a rich field of possibilities for Wiener to dig into notions of duality, interiority, and what is hidden versus what is revealed. Clare Kambhu’s paintings arise out of the act of noticing. They embody a shifting of attention — an opening up of perception to “allow in” what we tend to ignore or look past. In these works, the trace of human presence intermingles with surface, light and shadow, recording cumulative moments of interaction, a palimpsest reflecting the passage of time. The artist will be on-site in the gallery from 3 to 5PM tomorrow, Saturday, April 25 for the closing day of the show. Gallery hours are Thur-Sat, noon-6 PM and by appointment. ✨UPCOMING✨ Daniel Wiener: Out in Front of the Back of Beyond opens Thursday April 30 and runs through May 30. Please join us for an opening reception on Thursday, April 30 from 6–8 PM. Featuring his signature multi-hued, viscerally evocative works, this exhibition finds Daniel Wiener pushing into new formal and metaphorical territory, playfully testing the conventions of sculpture “in the round” while excavating the space between outward display and unknowable inner complexity. Anchored by a large freestanding sculpture titled Polyphony Beyond the Baton’s Thrust, the exhibition also includes a selection of smaller works engaging with themes of transformation, hybridity, and recursive variation. Transgressively decorative, the works collectively grapple with the full range of psychic life — delight, humor, fear, and loss.   Satchel Projects 526 W 26th Street, #913 Hours: Th-Sat, noon-6PM Hours: Thurs-Sat, noon-6PM And by appointment Image: Polyphony Beyond the Baton’s Thrust 2025 epoxy clay, dispersed pigment 48.5 x 55 x 40 in #danieljwiener #danielwiener #satchelprojects
