Chantier Participatif Les Joubins Août 2025
This summer we went to France to restore and plaster this 8x8m mega outside wall of this beautiful barn 🤎
What an incredible experience. Just being there walking around the barn and seeing/touching this (+/-) 200 years old walls…was already worth the trip!
It was an honour to humbly restore each panel. First we check each one of them to see how they were doing. They were mostly all still in good shape and strong after all this year (🤩). Others were unstable so we had to take them out; they had felt the years and the visit of some insects. We used the same technique (wattle) and reinforced it with some chicken wire and mesh. We reused as much as we could of the material we took off and we mix it with clay soil from the surroundings.
Afterwards, we finished with a lime coat (as they did), and a limewash to give some extra protection and colour 😍
Many stages for this project, and a lot of work!
But we had the best team (and the best food 🤤) 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
