SAFETY TEAM APPRECIATION 🤍🤍🤍🤍 What a team we had this year, 4 local AIDA instructors, all qualified as VB Professional Pool Safety Divers, and all incredibly hardworking and caring individuals. They do so much more than in-water rescues! Behind the scenes they: > Support the organiser with a thousand small but important errands > Support the judges > Support and care for the athletes outside and inside of the water > Support the medics > Prepare for the Closing ceremony and the pool area including setting up marketing materials > Hosted the registration party We are thankful and grateful their professionalism, skills and compassion. One of my favorite moments from the Galapagos, just me and this pinguinito going for a swim. 🐧 One of the four species of Banded Penguins, Galapagos penguins are the second smallest in the world, and the furthest North-dwelling, sometimes even crossing into the northern hemisphere, making them the only penguins that do so! An obsession with penguins was the central makeup of my personality for much of my younger years, and this moment as a 40 year old brought it right back, triggering a deep love for the way they transform from awkward but capable waddlers on land to stealth marine rockets in water.
