My messy writing experiment The End is live on @jmwwlitjournal . I’ve always hated apocalypse stories. This week my optometrist told me that all his closest friends are myopic while he looked behind my eyes. I’ve worked for so long in the entertainment industry building other people’s worlds that I’ve lost sight of my own. This story came out of a prompt in @scottjbroker ‘s flash fiction class. (I ripped Donald Barthelme’s The School). Wild illustration by the enviably offline Jacob Winkler. May all your endings be your own. 🖤 link in bio.
Last year was crap. 🌀🌪️🤞🏻 May this one be a little less so. Thank you to all who sent birthday wishes and everyone who took care of me in some form or another this past year.
SGR-AI! The autonomous sentry gun that currently guards the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. Who knows how many are there tho, it’s classified info. This leggie beaut has onboard thermal vision cameras that can purportedly read “gestures of surrender” in the body language of its human targets. ⚔️

When it comes to AI enabled weapons tech I’m particularly freaked by their potential use in border security.... something that’s rarely touched by defense and academic ethical communities. I think it’s super necessary though! Especially when anticipating the increasing amount of refugees from planetary ecological collapse. South Korea’s Ai sentry is worth researching as a potential near future border technology for nation states like the US where xenophobia is violently rampant.
