Maria writes, "Red chrysanthemums traditionally symbolize passion, creativity, and rebirth. The dense, organic, multi-petal form of the chrysanthemum is for me a thing of mystery and beauty. Red is not a color I tend to work with in my art. I have now fallen under its spell!" #SAQAArt #ArtQuilt #TextileArt #FiberArt #QuiltArt

Coming to Textile Talks on May 27: Nature's Canvas: Turned Wood and Textiles! Sign up at the link in our bio.
Since the dawn of prehistoric creativity, humans have harnessed the beauty of wood and the versatility of fibers to craft extraordinary works of art.
Nature's Canvas is a joint exhibition by SAQA and the American Association of Woodturners. Join five exhibiting artists from both organizations for this Textile Talk exploring the connections between two ancient mediums.
Our speakers are Andrea Finch, Betty Scarpino, Janine Wang, Michael Anderson, and Terri Shinn.
Textile Talks happen live on Zoom each Wednesday at 2 PM (New York Time). All talks are recorded and shared on YouTube. Textile Talks are presented by Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), @QuiltAlliance , @Surface_Design Association, and @InternationalQuiltMuseum . They are always free and open to everyone.

Our newest Virtual Gallery is What a Ride! Visit SAQA.com/Art to view it.
Curator Carolyn Skei writes, "When I turned 90, more than one birthday card or gift bore the words “What a Ride!” It followed quite naturally that I would suggest the phrase as the theme for a SAQA virtual gallery. Life is indeed quite a ride, so why wouldn’t members have a trove of quilts ready to go?" @carolynskei
