This piece changed a lot over the year it took to get here, I think I was still trying to find myself in this current administration... The constant pain and heartache for my community, my family, and myself, stopped me from trying. But I kept going, and I am incredibly proud of myself.
I wanted to harness making the audience think of their place in this story; the Vulture's eye that coldly sits in the center of the canvas is unbreakable. There is no death- but it imminent. There is something to be done; but will you act? Or watch an unwanted Prometheus's sacrifice, unravel and stain your hands?
This poem doesn't fit as much anymore, but I still love it. Check the last slide to read it💛

Continuation of "Reverence", I hold stubbornly in my joy, protection of my community and knowledge that together we hold power. Our community exists past boarders, violence, and deportation. They will rip us apart, but they can never take our heart. As much as I lie awake stricken with grief I know all we can do is fight.

It's has been strange to make art over the past few months. I can't help but feel guilt, feel stuck...but it has pushed me to create with immense grief and love. We must hold our love close- governments and men sick with power can never strip you of your humanity, of your love. We will always hold the power, together.

Grieving last year's icy mist and wilted leaves,
Given barren branches and hot smog.
A new beginning, or a restart, or a flushing, or a soaking.
A soft vibration of good, or give me a chance to dry out my roots before filling again.
Betting on fresh greens of wet concrete scents,
Before the heated striations of washed clean.
To be nourished and given time,
To be completely flooded with tenderness.
Reaching for cupped hands around my budding form,
