We’ve got a brilliant technician in this week giving it a full action regulation, reshaping the hammers, and showing it some proper love. Already a favourite with so many of our clients and now it’s going to sound even better.

Taking a moment this morning to reflect on a 2024 that’s been unforgettable in so many ways.
We’ve been lucky enough to spend another year working alongside an incredible range of musicians - both familiar faces and exciting new ones. Your creativity and passion have made every moment in the studio worthwhile.
Beyond our day-to-day, we’ve been plotting behind the scenes on a new project that’s all about supporting emerging talent here in Brum. We can’t wait to share more with you in the spring!
And when we’ve had some studio downtime, we’ve kept ourselves busy by dusting off the power tools and building a new room that’s going to transform the space. The biggest highlight? A window to the outside world! Fresh oxygen and daylight might not seem a big deal, but for us, it’s a game-changer.
On a personal note, 2024 gave me my second son - a summer baby who’s joined the ever-growing Sansom gang. With Elliott and me leading the charge, you could say we’ve been busy succession planning 😂 introducing a whole new generation of Sansom boys over the past couple of years has been chaotic and wonderful.
To everyone who brought their talent, energy, and good vibes to the studio this year - thank you. You’ve made 2024 so special.

Nothing like a few games of street fighter to break up a busy recording session 🤜🤛
This session brought a different challenge as we didn’t use any separating acoustic panels or headphones, so very careful placement of the instruments and microphones was key to maximise isolation and to capture each instrument with full clarity.
Of course it helps that it was a phenomenal trio led by @richardjonespiano , featuring @joshuacavanaghbrierley and #johnnyhunter. The track you can hear now is from their album Angle Shades which was recorded in a previous session at our place, but captured in the same style.
