Iโve teamed up with Sano Genetics to bring you the latest on why I participate in clinical research and why Iโve donated my saliva to science. The truth is that science simply cannot advance without patients like us coming forward to ensure our racial and ethnic demographics are covered in research.
Sano has a kit for #ulcerativecolitis patients to participate in genetic studies confidentially so researchers can better understand phenotypes and causes of disease to come up with more personalized treatment options.
Check out Sano Genetics and the work they are doing to help us #IBD patients. Hope we can participate in their testing and contribute to science in our own way as informed patients!

Working remotely means that I can jump in the car on Friday evenings and head to the beach; toast to a good week of work done and recharge my battery for the next one. My favourite haunts are Bournemouth, Durdle Door and Man O'War beach"

It's really great to be able to take breaks during the day with my wife and dogs! Also on a purely practical note, I have never enjoyed commuting so am glad to be able to have that time back in my day. Remote working has also enabled us to hire an amazing team that is not just in the London and Cambridge area. The one thing missing from a remote-first set-up is the opportunity for spontaneity and building relationships in the 'real world', but now that lockdowns are easing we are holding in-person two-day offsites that allow us to meet in person and build even stronger relationships.
๐ What's your favourite thing about working at Sano?๐
The people and the impact we are having. It's so great to work with such talented and passionate people. I think we have a culture that really values and rewards teamwork, and where people with diverse skillsets and backgrounds come together to solve really challenging problems. We are also solving an important set of problems and working together to make personalised medicine a reality. We have the potential to positively impact billions of people, which is really motivating.
