“Fiber In Focus” is an open studio event with six diverse textile artists, Sept 12-14, 2025. Each artist will be opening their studios for you to see their work and learn about their individual processes. We are proud to be part of The 10th Annual New York Textile Month @newyorktextilemonth . which is sponsoring multiple events throughout the month of September. . TI Art Studios, 183 Lorraine St., Red Hook Brooklyn. Friday Sept 12 6-8pm Saturday and Sunday Sept 13-14 12-5pm . - Natale Adgnot @natale_adgnot is a sculptor who uses mixed media, including fabrics, horsehair, and thermoplastics, to create fiber and textile sculptures. - Nicholas Cueva’s work @nicholascueva is a multifaceted exploration of fabrics in the context of visual information and compression, expanding on the texture and pattern of different weaves. - Sandra Giunta, @sangiunta inspired by the natural world, creates felted and stitched sculptural pieces with wool and other natural fibers to highlight interconnectedness and biophilia. - Kathie Halfin @eclectic_body weaves sustainable materials such as sisal, flax, and hand-spun paper to create tactile sculptures rooted in weaving and basket-making traditions. - Elise Putnam @ putmanelise draws on fabric using crayon, dye, collage, appliquĂ©, and embroidery to create exaggerated self-portraits that reflect familiar characterizations of women, such as fairy tale characters and art historical figures. - Melissa Zexter @MelissaZelter combines traditional embroidery skills with photography, sewing directly onto her unique photographs. Through her manipulation of the image’s surface, the photographs become unique, non-reproducible objects. . Bonus Event: Leo Fine: There will also be a bonus for our visitors, an exhibition in Sweet Lorraine Galley featuring Leo Fast, @le0fine his first solo show. . #textiles #newyorktextilemonth @newyorktextilemonth #artspswt

Adding to my nest series. Discovered that hummingbirds use lichens in the construction of their nests. Love that! Of course this one is amplified in size...true size would be about 2.5 x 2”. . #textiles #wetfelting #felt #fiberart #hummingbirdnest #northeastfeltmakersguild

Nature speaks in patterns we’re only beginning to understand. Sandra Giunta’s “Sea Scroll” emerges from wet-felted wool like an ocean current made tangible, celebrating the intricate diversity of natural forms while quietly reminding us of our responsibility as stewards of these fragile systems. Sandra’s textile sculptures become conversations between human hands and natural forces. Through wool roving, silk embellishments, and careful stitching, she translates the essential patterns that connect all living things into surfaces we can touch and contemplate. Each piece holds both wonder and warning. SURFACE National Association of Women Artists + The Gallery at Yellow Studio On view through August 9, 2025 The Gallery at Yellow Studio 792 NY-35 Cross River, NY 10518 Featured Artwork: Sea Scroll Sandra Giunta @sangiunta Wool and embroidery thread 14 x 10 x 4 inches $750 Celebrate and support women artists by collecting their work. DM for purchasing inquiries or shop online at yellowstudiony.com Still installation photography by Angela Strassheim @angelastrassheimphotography @heartstone_photo #Surfaces #NAWAartists #YellowStudioNY #WomenArtists #TextileArt #WetFelting #NaturalForms #EnvironmentalArt #FiberArt #HudsonValleyArt #WestchesterArt
