Last night, @ezraweisz and I had the pleasure of hosting our dear friend @raziqrauf at @vromansbookstore for his book launch, This Is Running. We talked about the value of reading (in the bathroom maybe?š), the run crew scene, and women in running. Thanks for those who came and supported the book launch. A big PR in the mile at the @crenshawmile this morningš
I almost didnāt step on the line. Life has been a lot lately. We moved back to the Pasadena area. My spouseās needs for care increased. We have big work meetings coming up next week. Iāve been drained and distracted.
But when Coach @spencerjcasey called yesterday, he reminded me that I didnāt train this hard to race well. I made a decision to put aside all lifeās responsibilities and enjoy some really hurtful minutes.
Went out hot. But the course was lovely. Kicked the final 200m. Crossed the line with a surprising PR.

Have been putting my head down and working lately. This morning was no exception with a 4:30am alarm. Felt a bit trepidation going into this 16x400 workout. But then I put my head down, and did one rep at a time. I went from thinking, āhow the hell am I going to run 16 reps?ā to āthank goodness itās not 16x800, or 20x400.ā š Thought about that time I ran @raysharp001 ās 12x400 and didnāt die.š
Iāve been reading @nxthompson ās book, The Running Ground, lately. Found this quote profoundly relevant. āWe rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hopeā. šš
