I donāt know if Iām more self conscious than the average man, but it feels impossible to describe a piece I make with feeling like a pretentious a-hole. I have to explain what I was attempting to convey, colors, symbolism and the feelings they are intended to provoke, and Iām just not good at explaining all of that in a way that doesnāt make me feel like Iām coming across pompous.
But with the art I like I always feel closer to it after getting in the artistās head for a little bit so Iāll try to keep it brief and simple.
The feeling I was trying to catch was the way life can toss and turn us like getting caught up in a riptide sometimes. Yet after those āriptideā moments you can turn back and see that those moments became building blocks of who you are and that love and grace and help guided you through and pulled you out the other side.
I had been working on this piece for a few weeks, and last week I was talking to some friends about this topic at a bar and I cried and then I got self conscious again. I told you, itās a problem for me.
Itās inspired by a combination of Japanese and Danish art, mostly from the late 1800s.
Anyways itās now available on our store if any of that speaks to you in any way or if you just like the colors.
