It's been one year. Let's take a close look at the breadth of complicity of the U.S. news media in the eradication of an entire people. 🍉 -- Very special thanks to an incredible group of people @nicholas_garbaty (my ride or die producer), @ahmadasaaddp (blessed your hands touched my work), Zaina Salem and Hera Ashraf. Also special thanks to a very special anonymous crew member. -- This is the work I love doing and this is the work I hope I am able to continue to do.

This was difficult to write, but necessary. Thank you @dannyghajjar for giving me the space in your @rollingstonemena to say this. You can read the piece in full in the link in my bio.

Journalist and media critic Sana Saeed (@sanaface ) argues that Mamdani’s charm can’t excuse a “slow-burn betrayal” of the movement that put him in power. Watch more: /watch?v=JRSUMm-UXq4 For more of the discussion, please join us on Patreon at - /posts/patreon-full-max-157487338

One of the most striking indictments of US news media made in the Kristof piece, unintentionally, is that we are given an incredible example of how the word of Israelis is taken without any shred of evidence while Palestinians must provide every detail imaginable of the violence inflicted against them, and even then their suffering is treated, at best, as secondary, if even acknowledged. Also worth noting that screams without words was an official investigation by the New York Times and this report is in the opinion section.

Have been thinking a lot about the transformative nature of violence and entitled presumption we have that we watch from afar rather than from within the ring of fire. Total violence brings total transformation.

Excerpts from my latest, which you can read on Substack. It is available to everyone. In this essay, I explore and look at how the charisma of leaders is used to obfuscate not just the crimes of the American empire but also chip away at demands and even structures of accountability. I look specifically at the example of President Barack Obama, his legacy and the question of whether Mayor Zohran Mamdani is its inheritor. Reintroducing myself on here for everyone new. I’m a DC-based journalist who focuses on media critique, US natsec, foreign policy, Islam and Palestine. My approach is to contextualize headlines and news coverage in history and alternative frameworks of power and politics. I was an on-air correspondent and producer for AJ for ten years and have been independent for the last year and a half, working on a variety of projects but currently focusing on my own thing. But I’ve been doing this work for fifteen years - specifically pushing the needle in the news industry on the language we use and how it gives permission for life and death. My background is Kashmiri, born in Pakistan, raised between the U.S. (NY) and Canada (Van). I’m deeply unserious except these days in the midst of global collapse engineered by the pedophilic elites 🥲. You’ll find chaotic content on here and I hope you enjoy and, more importantly, I hope you can walk away having learned something new.
