The end of a chapter. After six years of raising hundreds of trees on Governors Island, the last distribution of fruit trees to community gardens throughout New York City took place. Accompanying the Open Orchard on Governors Island, this expansive orchard across all five boroughs of the city placed indigenous and heirloom fruit trees back into the communities and in some cases on the same street as where they originated.
