Stüdyo yürütücümüz Hüseyin Yanar ve konuk yürütücümüz Samuli Woolston’ın yanı sıra, AURA İstanbul’un kurucularından Sinan İzgi’nin katılımıyla, araştırmacılarımızın Beşiktaş Meydanı için geliştirdiği su temalı mekânsal analiz ve tasarım önerilerini birlikte değerlendirdik. 🌊
Disiplinlerarası ekibimizin hazırladığı maketler, eskizler ve kavramsal üretimler; suyun kentle ilişkisine dair yeni okumalar geliştirmek için güçlü bir zemin sundu.

The second AURA Suare session offered an inspiring evening where architectural thinking met narrative depth! ✨
Samuli Woolston, the visiting instructor of the studio “Art and Architecture: Boundaries” led by Hüseyin Yanar, delivered his talk “Building Narratives” presenting two decades of ALA Architects’ design practice through key projects from the Finnish Embassy in Delhi and the renovation of Aalto University’s main building to the Kilden Performing Art Center, Helsinki Central Library Oodi, Event Centre Satama, the airport expansion, and uniquely crafted Helsinki metro stations.
Woolston highlighted how ALA’s design methodology is grounded in rigorous programmatic interpretation rather than preconceived formal gestures, drawing upon ecological references, local material cultures, contextual specificity, and the calibration of human scale. He further emphasized the role of textures, shadows, and the interplay between the natural and the constructed as integral components that enrich spatial experience and architectural expression. This gathering opened up new perspectives on how spaces gain narrative, atmosphere, and intent through thoughtful design processes.
