“The blueberry, milk and vines are a symbol of my purity. And I wish to be pure, again — still holding in memory the swamp I walked through.”

When I paint, I attune to the white canvas. And the limbs of my body become like dancers, spreading meaning with every stroke.
The pomegranate is a symbol of both the pain & glory of lived life.
And it is a symbol of the beauty of living — like the inside of her womb, like the cosmic spiral, like the coral reef.
This is the mystery of the “Ashera” — as per the Zohar — not in idolatry but in a talismanic enatiodromia. As the rebbe said, when the body will be revealed to be the highest.

Hadas Gallery at Chabad of Clinton Hill & Pratt Institute 110 Emerson Place, Brooklyn, NY
An exhibition of imaginative paintings inspired by the Kabbalistic concept of the Sefirot — the emotional attributes and inner structure of the self according to Jewish mysticism.
The exhibition features seven contemporary paintings alongside a live collaboration and lecture with renowned author and speaker Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin, whose book Sefirat Ha’omer: The 49 Kabbalistic Portals connects directly to the spiritual themes of the event during the Omer period leading toward Shavuot.
Artist Samuel Abelow’s work bridges contemporary symbolic painting with the spiritual atmosphere of Crown Heights and Chassidic thought, transforming Kabbalistic ideas into vivid dreamlike imagery, color and form.
🧡 Interactive and family-friendly. Featuring art, spirituality, music and conversation.
