#BREAKING Greenpeace activists onboard the Rainbow Warrior have taken decisive action to save nine sharks from deadly longlines in the Tasman Sea. 🦈💙
The animals were distressed and fighting for life but Greenpeace was able to save more than a dozen animals, including an endangered mako shark and four swordfish.
In a daring at-sea action, our activists seized almost 20 kilometres of fishing gear and more than 210 deadly hooks from the ocean - and distrupted an industrial fishing operation.
It’s time to protect the ocean.
📣 That’s why Greenpeace is calling on world leaders at the UN Ocean Conference next week to protect 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030 from this wanton destruction.

what a privilege to experience.
closing in on a beautiful season, our fourth year on island, 11th year working as a marine guide and photographer.
there is a dramatic and uncomfortable shift in this “ecotourism” industry. ethical behavior amongst wildlife is drifting away, prioritizing profiting on bucket list adventures and making high value content. it has made me seriously consider closing this chapter of my career and step away all together from bringing humans closer to sentient marine species.
I still believe there is so much we can learn by bringing humanity back into the elements and in direct presence of the animal kingdom. small moments can instantaneously catalyze an greater appreciation and call to action for the welfare of our oceans.
if you are traveling to Dominica and wish to join a 2027 sperm whale expedition with the kindred intentions, here’s what to expect:
- all guided trips organized with a licensed Dominican operator with government issued permit (yes, the permit is $$$) no exceptions.
- zero tolerance for touching, swimming underneath, diving down, chasing whales. whale behavior dictates each interaction, not guest expectations.
- maximum 6 participants each trip, 3:1 guest to guide ratio in water, in compliance with permit regulations.
- wildlife sightings are never a guarantee, our crew will facilitate to the best capabilities mother nature provides each day offshore.

yesterday we faced a hard reality. moments of excitement turned quickly to alarm realizing this juvenile humpback whale trapped in a net, alone and too stressed for us to be able to assist in disentangling.
it’s a heartbreaking reminder that our oceans are paying the price for human activity. discarded lines and forgotten net becomes a silent threat to marine life.
