The Lone Pelican.
“Occasionally, an individual pelican exhibits “loner” tendencies, breaking formation more frequently than others or spending significant time away from the group.”
For a week, this massive American White Pelican was resting at the Kachina Wetlands during its migration. I found it pretty unusual that this Pacific Ocean dweller was inland nearly 400 miles and at 7000 feet higher elevation than used to. After days of towering over the migrating mallards and Canadian geese, he stood alone, peaks behind him, basking in the winter sun for these two photos before disappearing the next day. I like to think he loves it here as much as I do and was never lost. Hopefully someday, I will see him return to Flagstaff again.

I first met Matthew where I did almost all my friends… At a skatepark, somewhere around 2014- 2015 thanks to @jerrysmallpants .
From that time on we had been skate buds and would often film edits at parks around the valley for the love. Fast forward a few years; Matt reached out to me about moving up north to Flagstaff. I was so excited to have another friend from my childhood to introduce to the boys up north. Matt did what he did with everyone he met and fit right in with our little skate family. I spent nearly the entire summer this year with Matt and the boys and wouldn’t have had it any other way. I cherish every moment spent with my friend. Here are some new and old memories with Matt. held onto this roll from may - august. im so very thankful for those who were there with me this summer. whether we fished, grilled, skateboarded, or just chatted over some beers outside as pals; i love all of you. the last photo marks the end of my time living on the southside neighborhood with two of my best buds and some of the best dudes i got to call neighbors down the street . Farewell Summer 2025, see you all in the fall 💚
