We’d like to thank the @nysdec and the NYS Forest Rangers for bringing a DEC Basic course to Sam’s Point last month for some of our newer members, and thank the Preserve for hosting us. We had pretty wet and foggy weather conditions that day that made for more interesting and realistic grid search conditions!
Happy New Year from all of us here at SPSAR! Here’s a sneak peak into some of the drills we’ve been doing so far this winter 👀
We’re always looking for new members! Check out the link in our bio to apply.
Last weekend SPSAR staged a drill focusing on hasty search, technical rescue, patient packaging, and extrication skills. Due to the heavy rain we’ve been receiving, terrain conditions and rapidly moving water kept us on our toes! We’re lucky to have such quick thinking and knowledgeable members.

Lot’s of new faces at SPSAR’s monthly drill today! We always appreciate cross training with other local teams. Reach out to us if you’re interested in collaborating.
This month we staged a crevasse rescue scenario and practiced rappelling, ascending, SKED packaging, and other rope skills
This weekend SPSAR ran a climber pick-off drill at the Point. Great planning, team work and execution on this one! If you’re interested in training with us or joining the team, head to the link in our bio for contact information and new member applications!

SPSAR team members just wrapped up the second weekend of Rope Rescue Operations Level training with some vertical elevation drills. Thank you to our great instructors, and to NY DHSES who made this training available to us. We really enjoyed training with so many different local teams!
