Better late than never - very fun night out at the @americanfilminstitute Life Achievement Award celebration of Eddie Murphy last weekend. This time the mezzanine, next time the floor seats 😎
ONE-STAR - an American Film Institute cycle film. A comedy for the Yelp Elites, critters, figurine painters, murderous nail techs, and the squeaky little mice behind the screens. This was a blast and a ~life-altering~ editing experience with incredible people. 💅

Today was officially the last bit of business for WATER ON MARS, an American Film Institute cycle film that I had the greatest pleasure of editing. Starting grad school with a chance to make a religious drama was a gift, a challenge, a chance to be humbled and grow. Grateful for this project and this amazing team, and for every person whose talent and insight made this movie better. Onto the next one.

Last year @jackspahn and I made a fun short that was kind of like a camera test but also sort of a needlessly complicated way to get better at visual effects (also shout out to Eric Patrick’s stop motion class, iykyk) Some people have have seen this already but if you haven’t you can check it out over on his page. Enjoy and slay your dragons wherever they may be
1) VFX breakdown of my favorite shot (the formatting is annoying but this wasn’t shot for a phone, so…)
2) “Blizzog” model and stop-motion setup - Cinestill BWXX 120
3) Costume test - Ilford 400 BW 35mm
4) “Gorgath” makeup application - Ilford 400 BW 35mm
5) After wrap - iPhone, Lightroom
