This month Enta was tasked with designing a tutorial with the working title ‘screwface bass’. Talking about those diabolical harmonics and modulations that seem to control the old boat race with a joystick.🕹 With a clear and well delivered teaching style, Enta explains how to make a decent range of neuro style sounds, focused on the BASS. Heavy, savage, twisted, snarling… that’s the vibe. Applicable to Neuro but very much adaptable to make whatever you like with while advancing your synthesis knowledge. Great video! 😎🔥

It's that time of the year...
we build up to a brand new season and a whole new lineup of artists providing you with a highly concentrated dose of inspiration & knowledge, each and every month.

This next season is all about bringing it back to the journey, bringing back the magic and storytelling that has roots in all electronica, not just Drum & Bass. More than ever the lessons will be about the 'why' as much as the 'how'. Our concept has always been about presenting you with diverse opinions and angles on everything, sometimes contradictory; but it's from within these fertile soils that your ideas will get formed.
And so, for this first announcement we are so excited to welcome Submarine to the project. His music and just his whole thing is next level.

1️⃣ There's so much in this edition to get the gears turning - beginning with some mind blowing sound design work; taking super basic sounds like kicks and hats and turning them into some crazy, unique, mid range vibes. Para demonstrating that you don't need much at all to end up with some special sounds, just some creative thinking and a desire to experiment...
2️⃣ In the second part, he picks up the idea he started in his previous tutorial this season and shows how to develop a starting sketch, fleshing it out, working the mixdown and getting it to the standard where it can be played in a club.
A superb tutorial, once again, from one of our favourite's in the game right now, a pleasure to watch.

1. Sampling is an incredible artform, integral in the genre. Anybody can have a go, but when the craft is truly mastered it's pure magic and alchemy. Dom is basically Gandalf? 🧙♂️
2. Using a variety of methods to flip some samples from this month's pack.
3. EQ is not just a corrective tool, it can also be used as a brush, to move sounds around the stage. Creating depth by leaning on key psychoacoustic principles.
4&5. Careful and selective routing through mix busses can limit only what needs limiting for better mixdowns with more depth.
6. 85db is where the ear's frequency response is most accurate. Make sure you take regular breaks when mixing down!

Since first releasing a record back in 1994 right through to 2026 (where he has a full schedule of new releases) Dom has always been drawn to the aesthetic of realness ~ sounds that confer images in the mind of the listener; textures that impart the firm sense that it’s not just a synthetic layer you are hearing, but a tactile object existing in reality.
In his next 90 minutes of pure masterclass, Dom shares his philosophy for production and teaches the techniques & processing he uses to create the authentic, organic sound, for which he’s been held in such high regard for thirty years.
Beginning with a guided look at 🔥 forthcoming release of his: the inspirations, ideas and production, he then moves on to some live sound design...
Re-sampling sounds from this months pack to build the basis of an epic cinematic arrangement. Lastly finishing with some sage advice and technique regarding mixdowns.
Dom’s expertise, wisdom and unrelenting passion for creativity is a true pleasure to watch and be inspiried by. We are both delighted and honoured to have his newest contribution amongst our library of videos.
