Over the last decade, me and the XA boys have spent a lot of time playing shows on US military bases and installations all over the world, getting to meet so many of the amazing men and women who serve our country, and I hope to make every single one of them proud as hell when they see this thing.
Come on and see what the members of @xambassadors chose as the 5 albums they can’t live without.

Happy birthday to meeeeeeee…. 37 years around the sun. Still touring, still eating stuff, still love dogs, and art, and hip-hop & mental health and fun handmade signs. Thank you to my parents who are always the first ones to call me on my birthday, and to everyone else who has reached out saying nice things. The world is falling apart, we are living in an autocracy, but at least we can all take some time out of our busy schedules to celebrate me today 🙏🏼🥹
Our re-recorded, re-imagined version of our debut album, VHS(X) is out now, alongside a new video for Jungle (Rerecorded).
In re-imagining and re-making this album, we got a rare chance to re-write our history a little bit. The original process of making this album was chaotic, having been recorded backstage in green rooms, bathrooms, in the back of our van, etc. But this time, we got to take our time and all be in one space working on it together, how WE wanted to do it. And with no pressure on it or on us. Doing it for the sheer love of the craft, like it was when we were all still kids just playing music in our parent’s basements. To rediscover who we are as a band now through this album from 10 years ago that took us out of the basement and introduced us to the rest of the world. We sincerely hope you love it and enjoy it and can feel all the love and care that we put into making it.
The VHS(X) 10 Year Anniversary tour kicks off next week, and we are so, so excited to see you.

Renegades (Rerecorded) is now yours.
“I didn’t think much of this song at first, I’ll be honest. After I sent it off to Alex the day I wrote it, I didn’t think about it at all. But over the years as I’ve witnessed how much it’s meant to so many people, and the doors it opened for me and the band, it’s grown on me. It’s come to represent something scrappy and authentic about who I am and who we are as a band. Unconventional, in a world of our own, and uniquely us.” - Sam
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned about being an artist, I learned when writing Unsteady. I had this great, simple hook written but I didn’t know what to do for the verses. I played it for Alex, our producer, and asked him what he thought I should try and write about. He thought for a second, then asked me what my relationship was like with my parents. I thought - who’s going to care about me whining about my parents’ divorce? And— here’s the key— I was embarrassed to write about it. But I wrote it anyway. I later realized I was making the choice to be vulnerable. And vulnerability is what this whole thing is all about. Listen to Unsteady (Rerecorded) out now.
It’s a rare thing to be in a band that’s been together as long as we have. We’ve been together for almost 20 years. This album was made, conceived, and released 10 years ago but we had already been busting our asses for almost a decade prior to that. When the door finally was opened for us with ‘Renegades’ it was a scramble to finish an album and get it out. VHS was mostly made on the road— in the back of our van, backstage in green rooms, bathrooms, hotel rooms, wherever we could steal a moment. It was chaotic, it was piece-meal. To be honest, we couldn’t appreciate a single moment of it because it was all moving so fast. So it’s been such a blessing to be able to revisit it and celebrate these songs and the people we were when we made them.
Our rerecorded album, VHS(X), will be yours on August 29. Pre-save now.
