Yesterday was a beautiful morning to take a trip to the Texas Capitol to see Asher perform with his “falcon fortes“ school percussion ensemble. He had a great time playing drums, xylophone and MCing the event. Thanks for all your great work, @kristina.r.bishop 🎶❤️

Last night I got to experience two incredible events that were very Austin. Kendra and I both chose to move here not for the tacos or the gorgeous green hills. (although we can’t live without either of those now) but it was for the fantastic community here.
Last night I got to experience two incredible events, both of which exhibited that fantastic Austin community. The first was @goldenhornetatx composers concert. I have to hand it to @grahamreynoldsmusic and his crew. It’s absolutely fantastic the opportunity they’re giving young composers to explore new work at @kmfaclassical gorgeous Draylen MasonStudio. The second one was the incredible @austinclassicalguitar gala. ACG have been able to put their music focused syllabus into every school in Texas as well as pilot an incredible new program in incarceration facilities around the nation.
Both events were reminders that Austin still has the same spine it always had: a genuine, art-loving community that believes music can bring people together and change lives. It is wonderful to see the city growing into itself without losing that.
