The Pines build - part 10. Madness started to set in, as endless 8am-midnight days caught up to us. Final touches and general mayhem trying to squeeze everything in before our self appointed deadline. Skirting, flooring, painting, scaffolding, patching, soldering, staining and trying remember which way round a microphone plugs in. Our test sessions have gone amazingly and we’re over the moon with the space, time to make some music!

The Pines build - part 9. Taking it back a few weeks now, while the structure was going up it was time to get out of the way, leave it to the professionals and make ourselves busy elsewhere. We’d wanted to upgrade our live room gobos for ages now so this was a perfect opportunity. Tom wrote up some plans and I sous chef’d, obviously we picked the coldest week to do it all outside but the frames came together perfectly. It was really exciting to finally be building something for the new space after focusing on demolishing the old space for weeks beforehand!
We’ve had the studio in full flow this past week, and we’ll be in touch very soon to open our doors and welcome you all to our new home ❤️🌲

The Pines build - part 8. I remember dreaming of a live room with a vaulted wood ceiling when I first started producing, now we’ve finally made it happen and I couldn’t be more in love with it. Another mammoth task complete and another huge step closer to opening 👀 in other news today is our gear reunited day so we’re eating crisps hanging out the side of a rental van. The Pines build - part 7. Some snaps from decorating the control room and laying the floor last week while we prepped for the colossal job of the live room ceiling. Finally able to clear some space now the building stage is complete and the room really feels like home. It’s been a long few weeks and we cannot wait to get cooking in here, so nearly there now 😴😴😴 #thepinesrecordingstudio
The Pines build - part 6. Still hard at it, as the plastering went on the live room and we waited for it to dry out we turned our attention to the control room. Finished off our corners, laid the underlay for the floor and started to prep for decorating. We’ve also been working on some nice framing for all our diffusers, as well as plenty more building projects which we can share soon! More deliveries and fitting this week, the home stretch is finally here 🏠 #thepinesrecordingstudio
The Pines build - part 5. The end of the construction phase of the build came into sight as the walls were completed and boarding up the new roof began. We’ve been obsessing over this part of the vision for weeks so it’s so satisfying to stand in here now and see it come to life! We were adamant on keeping as much of the height and shape of the room as we could before we started, some compromises, some delays and a whole lot of maths but we couldn’t be happier with the results. Cannot wait to lay down the tools and get back to our actual job soon, the end is in sight 🔨🎨🚚 #thepinesrecordingstudio
The Pines build - part 4. The live room continues to fly along at pace, while the walls got boarded up with some seriously dense materials, the new ceiling started to take shape and suddenly it feels like we’ve arrived!
While the pros took charge of the heavy lifting next door the two of us worked on building some diagonal walls across the corners of the new control room, to shape the room nicely and function as some heavy bass traps.
We took delivery of an entire lorry of materials from @thesoundproofingstore to treat the studio to our needs. They’ve been amazingly helpful and supportive the whole way through the project, from the initial idea, planning and quoting, working with us on how to make our vision happen, delivery, and constant customer support on hand to help with any queries. We’d have never got our ideas off the ground without their help so big thank you to them! Safe to say I never want to lift plasterboard again in my life after getting that all inside #thepinesrecordingstudio
The Pines build - part 3. After finishing the floor and sealing any gaps, our next step was the stud frame inside the existing room, built inside and completely isolated from the external structure. In order to soundproof and properly treat the space it was vitally important to get this right so top quality materials were order of the day. Very exciting to see the shape of the room come together and get a feel for the space! #thepinesrecordingstudio
The Pines build - part 2. In order to keep the shape of our beautiful pitched roof with the weight we needed to add for soundproofing and treatment, we had to fabricate some additional steel beams and incorporate them into the existing structure.
