“I build ‘silent architectures.’ They don’t speak loudly, but they hold the weight of erased landscapes.”
Samit Das is an interdisciplinary artist who’s work explores the archive as both material and method. Through the processes of layering, erasure, and repetition, he registers urban, architectural and personal histories.
Drawing remains the axis of his language, extending beyond paper into spatial and installation-based forms. Through dense surfaces and compositions, his works produce a tension between image and residue, where presence is continually negotiated through absence.
We are pleased to present his work as part of The Houses I Almost Lived In.
Visit soon to experience his vision on architecture and residual.
On view until 25 May 2026

The Architecture of Silence: Resurrections of Landscape Still life is not just still life. My still life is a political excavation.
My works are — Song of the Soil.”
The Architecture of Silence—A Resurrection of Landscape is a multilayered research art project that redefines the “still life” as a site of political excavation. It bridges the philosophies of Tagore and Geddes on space with Mahasweta Devi’s grounded advocacy for land rights and environmental care.

We do not leave architecture behind; it settles within us. The houses we have inhabited and those we only encountered in passing, continue to shape memory in quiet, persistent ways. Walls, corridors, fragments of light and shadow become internal structures, informing how we move through the world.
The exhibition traces how space is absorbed into lived consciousness. Working across sculpture, painting, material assemblage, and spatial interventions, each artist reflects on architecture as something that accumulates, erodes and endures within memory. Their practices reveal how the built environment, whether remembered, imagined, or lost continues to inhabit us long after we have left it behind.
The preview evening will include a walkthrough with Archaeologist Anica Mann @anicamann all five exhibiting artists present. Walkthrough will be held between 5.30 to 6.30 pm.
